You could both be right. But I think this downtrend, even relatively short, is the market reaction to comments attributed to Drahi on openreach.
I’ve never been more convinced that the market wants BT broken up and openreach floated.
If Drahi was clear that he wanted to float OR, we would’ve been at 2.50 +.

Another results day with the same outcome from the market makers. Only good news is the sp is in a far better place than 12 months ago. However, not sure where any good news is coming from anytime soon

Results day is usually painful for BT share holders. Last year I seem to remember £1.03. If there is a positive close tomorrow, then hopefully the tide has finally turned and we can look forward to better returns in the future! GLA

It’s a popular sport downgrading this share Velo. Was expecting this after a fairly good week for the sp. I must say it is very difficult not to think ulterior motives are afoot ?
I’ve often read on this board and in the media that this long standing malaise with the sp is because of a shake out of retail investors or the possible sale. I think neither, the market wants the company broken up, but I’m guessing !

Article is ludicrous! The reporter asserts that BT is far too slow to do anything and sp suffers as a result, then decries CEO for wanting to get on with it !

Look at airline stocks ffs. IAG 6 billion loss, Sleazy Jet a tenner without a plane in the sky. Not withstanding anything that happens with the BT sp, I don’t understand this market

I’m a bit surprised at the sp performance if I’m honest. My gut told me after the analysts views on Friday that the retrace would be back to the 120s. After watching the action over the last two days, (drop early, then return stronger) it appears that 130 + is holding. One swallow and all that, but seems like the sp is holding up.

I suspect there will be a retrace from here, but not sure by how much. No great insight to my guess, just the constant effort by the market whenever something less than wildly positive around BT surfaces. Hope I’m wrong !

PS I am another that is doing ok, I’ve been in from the beginning

Can’t agree with you on BTPS. It’s will be seen as negative whatever the valuation. As you know, various publications have got their estimates wrong because it suits their narrative.It’s regulation that’s hurting this share and government who won’t commit to support the Telecom investment that’s needed.
If Boris is positive towards investment and Ofcom relent, then growth is certain and that will change the game. After all, potential growth is what the market is looking to see IMO

I thought the SP would drop after results day - no genius on my part, it’s the usual MO. But the sentiment is negative, negative and more. Personally I thought it would have dropped a bit more. And it may do yet if this black rock stuff is accurate. Wait till Ofcom make a noise next month, then we will all know the trajectory

No surprise that the sp has dropped again within two hours of a positive opening. Just shows sentiment hasn’t changed at all
