It's amazing how a decent renumeration package will keep you focused BJ. This helps his loyalty IMO.

David Miliband’s pay and benefits from running a large American charity have risen to £680,000, its accounts show.

The former Labour foreign secretary, now president and chief executive of International Rescue Committee (IRC), a private aid organisation, was paid a basic salary last year of $708,754 (£545,000). He got £19,360 in pension contributions, £17,500 in other non-taxable benefits and £100,000 towards a “supplemental non-qualified retirement plan”. The IRC accounts, filed with the charities bureau in New York for the year ending September 2017, also list back-dated pension contributions of £64,000

They've certainly put a damper on this BB, probably to the delight of some.
Let's face it there's only so much you can say about buybacks and Lloyds in general. After a while it starts to get a bit overdone.
At least with politics which can and does affect Lloyds is evolving daily whereas when the Lloy board make a decision, that's it.

Anyway I miss tricky's unique way with words to sum up and describe the events.

Well we would all like to think that shares we hold are 'undervalued' and will rise accordingly.
However Lloy has enjoyed a somewhat brief rally this month contributing towards the same FTSE rise.
But alas today it lost its legs (to the miners) and slipped back probably to continue its demise.
Lloyds has been firmly on a downer since the last week of April against the main market.
IMO this has further to fall, all talk of £1 or even 80p is somewhat premature.
Will we see the sub 50p lows of the end of 2018, who knows.
I've sold some recently and have seen nothing of late to change my mind.

ab121, I think the point I was making was that the Eurozone inflation sunk unexpectedly to 1.2% from an expected 1.7% (from memory).
If this continues, and with weak and getting weaker economic conditions then how does the ECB stimulate the economy. With weak inflation comes weak growth, low wage increments, and probably/eventually higher unemployment.
If this continues its a downward spiral into recession and even deflation.

I mentioned the present zero interest rates but I didn't mention that they're still supporting the economy and don't forget the ECB (Mr Draghi) has already promised to do whatever it takes.
That was three years ago, and they've already released the so called "big bazooka."

It's not just people who live in high inflation countries that suffer.

Interesting times ahead maybe.

ab121 last time I looked UK inflation was 2.1% in line with the 2.0% target.

Euro-area inflation eased more than expected in May, piling further pressure on European Central Bank policy makers as they assess a deepening slowdown and the need for stimulus.

There's some subtle differences here in that UK's bank rate is 0.75% but alas the Euro's is 0.0%.
Oops, wonder where that stimulus is coming from?

Yes I know some are struggling but I think the point I was trying to make was that people's expectations today are much higher than when we started out. There's nothing wrong with that per se, why wouldn't you want to better yourself but a lot 'want it now' and are not prepared to put the work in to get it.
It may well be harder today but when I was broke in my youth, I actually had virtually nothing, not even the latest smartphone lol.
Also help and benefits have improved enormously which must assist.

Not sure about it being good news, not being a Metallurgists myself, but I suppose it must be as the company released it.
