The European Central Bank came to Italy's aid in March, effectively ditching its own rulebook to focus its bond-buying on Italian debt as the country became the global epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, data showed on Monday.

The biggest non event of the year so far, is due to take place this morning.
The long awaited (c90 days) announcement of the new and improved labour leader.
It may give some hope for a few on here to raise their expectations for an alternative view on proceedings.
However instead of a high profile triumphant coronation we'll just get an announcement.
You see, Corona virus does have some advantages.
Don't think I could stand much of that bunch congratulating each other on his (we know the result) appointment and how the labour party are united.

Although none of us know eachother it sort of brings it home when someone announcers that a member of his family has contracted CV19, until now they have just been a statistic on a screen.
Nobody I know has contracted the virus.

I guess we are all suffering at present and the amount is only of relevance to each individual.
Two weeks ago I was £104k down, have recouped over £20k since but still high and dry on Glen, holding now 11900 @ 275 average, so that's minus c£18k.
I know that's a small holding compared to some on here but it still hurts.
The only thing in my favour is that I have more cash than losses and when this is all over I fully expect to exceed my pre CV19 valuation.
The only problem is, we have no timescale for when this is "all over."
Atm I'm finding it very difficult to commit further in this market, holding back at present, don't think anyone has 'missed the boat' yet.

Well I suppose there's no shortage of doom and gloom out there with every news source reporting various degrees of Armageddon.
Then we get all the other sort of experts on here posting their wildly varying estimates of the future SP, backed up by a snippet of this news source.
Each one trying to out do the other but each one believing they are correct, but all convinced they know the outcome because, well, they know.
It doesn't take an expert to see that we are in a downturn, keep it up, at times like this we all need a good laugh.
We all make our own investment decisions and are surely not influenced by the experts on here.
Saying this, these BB's are a good source of differing news media and there has been some good debates, but future share prices you haven't a clue.
When this is eventually over the one pound brigade will be out in force again, and the cycle repeats.

Successive governments have offered/ bribed the electorate with more and more 'freebies' to gain power, for many it's a lifestyle, except these 'freebies' have to be paid for.
Benefits used to be temporary support not a way of life.

If you're relying on dividends so as not to be a burden on the state surely you wouldn't qualify for any benefits anyway.
You would have too much wealth to qualify. Don't know what the amount (£) is to claim benefits, but if you rely on divis you'll probably have £20k's worth, I believe that's too much.
