Falky, I predict Lloyds SP will be 60p or 70p, (doesn't matter which it's just another random number) someday, but I won't keep repeating it and certainly not quoting 'Friday' at the beginning of every week.

My comment was just a response to part of treetops post…. "amazing performance from someone who never posts anywhere else." It just got me thinking, as there has been a core of long-term contributors on here for probably 10 years or more, as I said it was just an impression, wasn't being nosy Suzy just thinking out loud.
I believe I said at the time, I didn't participate in the offer. It was only marginally under my average (3.79p) which hasn't changed for some years.

Conner55, I've made a few Bob here in the past as I expect most LTH's have, you couldn't fail to take profit during the spike 10 years ago, I didn't take enough profit back then but I'm comfortable with my current holding, BEM doesn't owe me anything.

Never owned 50 shares, at least not at the same time Alan, sometimes doing nothing with a portfolio is the correct action.
There's no shortage of advice on these forums…... everyone's an expert.

I thought the Monte dei Paschi debacle was all wrapped up when the Italian government bailed it out, but the saga continues.
Seems they're having trouble unloading it, not surprising really, the Italians have ended up with 64%, who would buy shares in this.
Not a good time and more problems for Mario Draghi. Just goes to show how far the UK banking system has recovered.

For comparison, original UK ownership of Lloyds and NatWest was 43 and 55% respectively.

Although not truly autonomous the bank's independence has been eroded in recent years with four governors in the last five years. So the Bank is therefore probably not independent, or, is it as independent as its Western counterparts?

Then the other day we had the surprise resignation of the German central bank governor some five years before his time. No fan of the ECB's monetary policy and a constant critic of their actions, disagreeing with Mario Draghi's 2012 pledge to do "whatever it takes"
With Merkel on her way it will at least give the new government an opportunity to select a less confrontational successor.
With personal reasons sighted for his resignation, the cynic in me thinks there are comparisons with the events in Turkey, funny that.

And then there is the BOE, who tells us it has two main objectives: monetary stability and financial stability. The Bank of England works closely with HM Treasury, Financial Services Authority and often other central banks to achieve its goals of monetary and financial stability.
No mention of the government of the day.
By any stretch of the imagination the BOE has failed miserably to maintain anything like a 2% inflation rate.
Now we know these have been unprecedented times but this morning we have future inflation figures predicted to peak next year at 5%, it's a guess like all 'experts' make.
As everyone knows, when inflation gets going it's not easy to stop. So in my book the BOE wants to start early and make a definitive statement and raise rates as if they mean it. It is after all their job.
Unless of course they are not truly independent, in that case any rise will be derisory with threats of more to come.
Some would say that pensioners have been short changed with the 3.1% rise due to start incidentally around the time inflation is due to peak, but they already have, with the average wage taken out of the equation.
At least they (the BOE) do have some stability with their governors but free of political influences I'm not so sure.

Just musing before I'm off to the juicer in a minute.

The 64p you keep posting chips was due to the Boris bounce, pre Xmas of course which was a great relief to all but the sanctimonious lefty's.
Election date was December 12th, at that time covid, although some were aware, did not rate highly on the investment agenda.
As for pre covid levels you could pick other dates and therefore other prices before the eventual decline actually happened.
64p was hardly a level.
