Would we end up getting a special Dividend16 Jan 2022 09:41
I have tesco shares and when the asian side of the business was bought out for 10 billion, Share holders had to wait to get a Special Dividend and they also did a share consolidation that was 15 new shares for every 19 previously held, and the value of the special dividend was 50.93p per share. Basically , I ended up no better off , Yes i got cash handed back, But i was down a number of shares and the SP stayed the same , So buy time i bought back the shares to get to the number i was before , I was no better off.
I personally believe that the only way you gain is when its a total buy out and you can see the total price that your offered for your shares.
I might be wrong on this since i am just a average private investor and i would welcome other thoughts on what investors may get out of this
