I disagree on the update - they may need to respond to fake news on Monday and that's a big maybe but they cannot allow themselves to be dictated to by shorters antics.

I repeat they need to start the process of slaying these parasitic scum. A share buy back would at these levels be the obvious use of shareholder funds and preferential than paying a dividend.

Odey is on a crusade - unless one of the big holders bail him out (at a monumental loss to them assuming no Odey profit sharing) then Odey has little choice but to hope Debs goes bust.

I am confident Debs will not being going bust and optimism that profits will actually start to improve in the near future. That will leave Odey in a pickle. He is between a rock and a hard place - his paper profit might be hard to realise. To that degree he is a dangerous man that will stop at nothing to drive the sp down including securing the services of journalists and other media outlets to place fake news stories.

On the 25th however the BOD must have in place something akin to a bear trap as currently we are priced to go under.

This is either at this level a good way to double your investment or to lose the lot - the latter requires the BOD to have been lying.

Anectdotally Birmingham DEB's was I am told very busy yesterday.

I would expect a prepack with Luke Johnson being the principal owner - what they pay for it is anyone's guess. It will be revealing if they choose to withdraw from Debenhams. I expect it will be business as usual. Apart from the current shareholders.

Separately the department store looks to be the preferred route for Coast rather than uber expensive stand alone stores. Funny that.

Why? Sp's often go out of sync with reality and routinely under and over shoot without either of the above.

As I said before banking covenants and rather breaching them is the issue and with reduced capex, options around disposals or part disposals place DEB's on firmer ground than many.

The risk around the sp is MA in April next year does a stitch up with the other holders and gets DEB's for peanuts

I am not sure they feel they can control the sp - that said when profit warning 1 arrived in January Cheshire and Bucher both bought £50ks worth but nothing since.

They have reorganised their finance so this can be parked for now - the operating profit is the biggie IMV for their banking covenants.

£50m forecast is for the year Oct 2019 - assuming they get there and not this year where I sincerely believe they will hit £33m - if it fall much below this with a similar outlook then I agree the sp even at this level will flirt with the gurgler.

Cariilion was a Ponzi scheme and hardly a fair comparison. Crooked company cooking the books akin to Quindell and Connaught. Much of DEB's investment planning would have been inked in before last year - Watford as an example.

Cannot argue with the risk though, much of my bravado around the shorters has been that it has been Odey and few else. That an outpost of Blackrock joined the party last week at this level is troubling - sub 10p gain.

I will as I said in late Sept add if we get to 8.5p and again below that.

DEB's is pushing on with their plans and have decided to ignore the share price - they beleive it will come right as the plan delivers.

The market and the noise around them in the face of currently a profitable business defies reason. It truly is becoming a self fulfilling prophecy with even Quiz getting marked down by association.

I am told Arcadia are expanding further into DEB's - Phillip Green would not waste the money on openings if he felt there was any risk to the business.

The company needs to show some better news on the 25th however to silence the nonsense swirling around - a projected profit of at least £50m for the FY, a token dividend of 0.5 - 1p and some director purchases.

Then we might pull into silly cheap share price teritory of circa 20p because if we languish at or near where we are now in March 19 MA will get the lot for little more.

Not really the same thing. Below 9p is a disgrace. The total disregard for shareholder assuming longs here have not been totally shafted is appalling. Not everyone I have no doubt has been able to sit an hold.

God alone knows I wish I had stuck to my sell off two days before MA bought his last tranche.

On track for 7p by the 25th and even if they doubled that's 14p - roughly a quarter of a year ago and that's a big if.

Sheesh - no clue about the basics of the companies finances yet invested.

Yesterday folk spouting they could not issue a dividend because the banks would not allow - rubbish again. As long as DEB's stay within their banking covenants then they can do as they please.

Outside of those covenants and all bets are off.

Roll on the 25th it will be the denouement here and I genuinely expect us to be nearer 20p than 10p.

The BOD have now gone on record as saying the company is trading OK - indeed they have furthered said they do not understand the press comments and have been forced to repudiate the articles.

Plus they and their concessions trade successfully and plan to increase space within DEB's.

So given the above I am of the opinion this sp will look like the bargain of the century by end of 2019. I am sticking my neck out and saying we should see a huge correction on the 25th - back to late teens.

For readers old enough - it was a mere twenty years ago when Burton Group Plc split into Debenhams Plc and Arcadia Plc.

Much water under the bridge and particularly in the case of Debs much change not least in the value of the company - now standing at barely two weeks takings.

In different times Green would have been a buyer here and the circle would have come clean round, instead I suspect he is a seller of his own emporium - indeed I thought that would have happened this year. Given how pivotal DEB's is to Arcadia for their brands now that BHS is gone I do wonder what strategic planning and financial skulduggery is a afoot. The endless bashing of Debs, Odey and his short etc - If ever a company needed a 'white knight' its Debenhams. That knight will not be MA though in my opinion.

The ST claiming Atradius have withdrawn all insurance cover at Debenhams.

I am not familiar with the machinations of insurance cover and how often it gets reviewed - my belief was they simply repriced risk as appropriate.

They carried a similar article last week on Arcadia having its cover reduced. Is this the ST just being lazy and running stories from a single source or more sinister? Either way the term 'stricken' got trotted out again on Debs.
