As you know Pearls I do not believe PG would be a buyer - once without doubt, today no.

That said Arcadia needs DEB's - it is their strategy for remaining on the High Street. PG knows full well his companies fortunes and therfore the selling price of Arcadia is very much linked to DEB's.

I would not rule out an agreed buyer of Arcadia (it is no secret PG wishes to sell) will at the same time be a buyer of Deb's. In effect Burton Group reincarnated.

Unquestionably our armchair investor used to buy shares a bit like all of us - buy to sell at a profit.

When he bought DEBs at 70p he quickly too his profit 2014 IIRC. He then repeated the process in 2015 and subsequent occasions - this time stake building. Roll on last spring he upped to the threshold. I beleive he thought he was getting a bargain.

Then HOF went from agreed CVA to admin - MA went from investor to all out predator and got what he thought he wanted for £90m debt free with a huge bargaining hand over the landlords.

I beleive he will not revert to investor - I also beleive he will not get DEB's in the same way. As it is HOF are losing money and frankly I expect him to milk it till it closes.

DEB's will stand alone with JL as destination shopping.

Whilst not the same target audience I have to wonder how DEB's cannot have had a better Xmas than last with 'Dell boy' Ashley running into the ground HOF.

My visits to his Flannels emporiums have left me amazed at the sheer dowdiness of the fixtures, lighting - frankly everything.

It is time DEB went into predator mode and bloodied our 30% shareholder.

For as long as they pay the premium for doing so.

That said a sizeable chunk is loaned to Odey, hedging MA's holding to a significant extent hence a 30% shareholder trying at every turn to talk the sp down when if he truly believed what he was saying he would be selling instead.

The fact there are no rules around the holding and simultaneous shorting suggests to me that we are in relatively uncharted waters regarding MA / Odey.

A short squeeze is possible but I think that would result from an as yet unknown source.

When I say poor - I mean not enough to move this higher. Truth is if the numbers were truly poor we would have had a statement before now.

The omens are for a positive statement and a sp in double figures.

Not at Footasylum - discounting hurt and L4L poor at existing stores.

Just for balance and not that much of a read across for DEB but the picture is not clear cut.

Truth here is DEB is toast if they have not learnt from the mistakes of last Xmas, especially so as the back drop of sales in the wier market was no where near as grim as the 'click bait' media predicted.

I am hoping they will report a positive story to confound the critics. I fear the shorters (Odey in the main) have been inside DEB for the past two plus years and know full well the numbers will be poor.

Like many LTH I was pretty sure the TS was due Friday - as per last year when it moved from the scheduled 11th to the 4th.

My take on this reversion to the 10th/11th is that the numbers are going to be OK and way better than the silly doom mongers have predicted.

I would like to see various BOD's but some shares at that point. I suspect they will be lucky to get them in single figures.

HMV, Game, Thomas Cook and Thorntons - all were placed in intensive care at the start of 2013.

I backed three of them - I held two TCG and THT. The writing was on the wall for HMV at the time and I am surprised they have lasted as long. Game will follow - our dear short selling share holder has a sizeable chunk IIRC. What a shame.

Deja vue except for the DEB bit which oscillated around the 90p mark. Will we ever see that number again.

Agreed - DEB's have always been straight forward in telling the situation. Last year the Trading update was scheduled for the 11th and being the shocker it was they released it a week early.

Oh for a time machine - September 17 will do - I was some 20k up on this and not some £100's of K down

I cannot see them being able to shift over 100m shares unless they sell them to Odey.

Makes no sense - if they were sure this was sinking they would have hedged or sold way back. Now they look to be driving the price to below 3p. Nothing that might be coming out the back door now of DEB's accountants could warrant this decision IMV.

Truly bizarre and troubling. We have two half days and only four full trading days after today to sell this down further.

I make that about 3p or thereabouts at worst. Looks like the day for a chunky top up will be on the 3rd.

The mother of all bounces is coming on the 4th.
