@Doc.........i/m in Pattaya, a tourist hub (or was pre-covid)...........a lot of the Thais have given up their rented accommodation and returned home to their parents.....least there they can eek out a living from the land with no outgoings as such.

The problem with most Thais is they do not think about a rainy day ,its in one hand and out the other.

The above said, a lot are now returning to Pattaya ............and although the do squander money when they have it they can also adjust to live very frugally

Furlough.............you dont know how lucky you are in the UK............earlier in the year we had a strict 3 month lockdown here in Thailand, basically only supermarkets open.....the borders were and still are closed to Tourism...........how much did the Thai Govt hand out in lieu of wages?............bugger all...........

I would hate to see what would happen if the UK took the same attitude.............guess i/m really just saying be thankful for what you have got..........the UK isnt so bad sometimes
