I’ve owned a Range Rover and I know that my current EV in a similar price bracket will cost 25% less before I factor in tax breaks and the cost to charge/run it…..

you are right we still need fossil fuels and will do for a while whilst we transition from fossil fuels to renewables but the governments have zero joined up thinking and are making that transition harder than it needs to be. mind you is it any surprise when you see how the services they run like the nhs, moj etc are useless.

our house, from memory is a similar size to 1984’s, and 90 years old. the plumber ****ed up the grant and we have just found out the cavity wall insulation, fitted in 2002 before we bought the house, was virtually non existent and is being replaced under guarantee next week.

1984 won’t like this but the savings on fuel, heating etc are huge if you make the effort and can be done on a fraction of the cost we have spent.

our fuel saving alone on diesel are £6k a year and we have added a vehicle since those costs 4 years ago and diesel has increased 25% over that time.

The uk electric price is based on the uk gas price and is expensive because it includes a green levy.

I cant speak for Germany and Denmark.

No one is committing to build wind turbines because the government want a huge cut. Co-ops are building wind turbine farms and investors are making decent returns even with prices at multi year lows and planning notoriously difficult. The same for solar farms.

Oil and gas don’t want to lose their monopoly at creaming all these profits so of course they are going to sell hard to customers like yourself.

The 31m don’t live in large detached houses and so the investment is nowhere near £10-20k. It isn’t much more than a new boiler would cost.

Unfortunately the government have no cohesive strategy to implement electrification so they give with one hand and take away with the other. The next government will be worse.

Ps I’d like to think you are right about interest rates but I just can’t see it, rates keep on moving up yet the everywhere I look it is dead.

This is how easily they are bamboozled into believing electrification is designed to restrict everyone’s choices.

End users will chose what is best for them on a variety of reasons, costs probably being the greatest factor.

The deniers on here chose to ignore all the facts however last month our energy bill including 2k miles of charging for 3 EVs was £4……

They also chose to ignore current uk electricity prices are based on gas prices to subsidise the green levy and that gas prices have doubled in the last 4 months.

Bit allegedly we have an abundant supply if cheap fossil fuels, it’s just a shame a cartel likes to control these prices so everyone in their countries makes a fortune out of mugs who sit on their backsides paying silly prices for energy…….

That seems quite a knee jerk reaction to a product that you say will continue to drop in market share, in fact I suspect it’s because they know what is going to happen when the Chinese flood the market with cheap EVs available to the masses.

ICEs will become less and less popular over the next decade and EVs will fill that gap, there is no question that will happen.

There will be a demand for copper but I’m not sure that demand will be enough to satisfy the delusional rampers on here, who all seem to have disappeared at the same time……what a coincidence or maybe it isn’t……

Your energy bills are so high because your electric cost is based on the ridiculously high gas price you are still charged.

My bill last month was £75 incl ridiculous standing charge and 2k miles of range in 3 EVs.

A friend drove round Europe this month 2250 miles £200 in charging, rapid chargers everywhere, half price of uk.
