No need to worry about the labour government's impact on BP as BP is only about 5% in the UK, they saw this coming a while ago and slowly but surly moved out (same as Shell). It is somewhat Ironic that when Shell and BP make high profits there is a call from more taxes which means more O&G companies leave the UK and more is imported from the likes of Shell and BP who then make the profits in a more tax friendly place.

However I did the same as you and sold some BP to take capital gain and replaced them with DEC.

Sorry I just can't buy into this, as I have said so many times before JL took the cash over 5 years ago from a 3 for 5 rights issue at 70p when the shares were £1.31 and turned this into a sub 30p share price in this time, he not only spent all the rights issue cash but sold a large amount of the company off to pay for his so called turn around. I for one and probably most if not all of those one who bought in at the rights issue are not impressed.

When this share goes over 70p (perhaps 95p if counting inflation) and it starts paying dividends then it is turned around, until this point it is a loser. However JL is not a loser as he as taken good amount of shareholders money to lose us so much.

So the BOE who were asleep at the wheel for most of the rise of inflation (BOE stated inflation only transitory) decided to give a shock 0.5% rise to signal they have woken up and now take this seriously. Then High tax Hunt goes to the banks and gets them introduce a load of measures to mitigate the effect of the interest rate rise, the one I like is if you ask for help with your mortgage you credit score will not be effected. So you are in trouble with your mortgage but don’t worry you can keep spending on your credit cards the exact opposite of what the BOE are trying to achieve and Hunt says he supports the BOE, you could not make this up except the BOE and government are making it up as they go along.

The blackmail argument is that if this gets to 75% the shares can be delisted and you if you have not accepted the offer you are now stuck in a delisted company controlled by GIL. At 90% you are automatically forced out and you shares will be purchased at the offer price.

For Kape we were told accept the offer or you will be stuck in a delisted company, I like so many others reluctantly accepted the offer as we did not want to be stuck. Kape was worth far more but with a controlling shareholder like Sagi there was little interest in anyone new buying the shares as the outcome was more or less inevitable.

The data breaches may be over (for now) but the fallout will continue for a long time, contracts lost or not being considered by many companies for new business because of the reputation. It will take a long time to repair the damaged caused not helped by the nothing to see hear attitude of the BOD.

Now FTSE250 premium gone and support point of 30p breached it is not a good look. Hopefully some better news in August but I suspect we will be back to the jam tomorrow comments from the BOD and more asset stripping to pay the for the BOD remuneration and spin machine.

Good chance we fall out of the FTSE250 on next reshuffle well done BOD.

This is just a distraction to try to try to divert away the incompetence of this government, if Sunak and Hunt want the country to grow they need to cut taxes from this these ridiculous levels, cut regulations and public spending as common sense and history teaches us. The latest news from BT is that they have moved a lot of their pension fund cash out of the UK no doubt because of poor returns caused by government policies, also Oil and Gas companies reducing investment in the UK due to punitive taxes along with redundancies and of course many other companies pulling out like AstraZeneca. However no chance from Spend it like Sunak and High tax Hunt, they are wedded to high tax, high spend and more and more regulations.

I really hope there will be some common sense and increase outsourcing to boost productivity but I think this government are too weak to take heat that will be generated from Labour, unions, BBC and left wing press if they attempt this and also goes against Sunak and Hunt vision for the UK which is managed decline.

If you think Labour are stopping O&G drilling in the North Sea out of convection to ESG or just stupid and are committed to more green energy then follow the money for the real reason.

Dale Vince the owner of Ecotricity has given the Labour party £1.5m and has pledged to give millions more. So Labour get cash to enact a policy which gives more business to Ecotricity, this is not about conviction politics but corruption.

Also Dale Vince is using his cash to do all he can to disrupt the British people through his donations to Just Stop Oil in the hope this will net him more cash.

Not sure if Hunt is thinking of outsourcing more of the state or just trying to get the government workers back to work instead of watching daytime tele at home. Jacob Rees Mogg tried this with limited success.

However one way to increase productivity is to outsource more government work as I believe this will be more productive, it will solve a number of problems

Strikes, there are far fewer strikes in the private sector

Sick days, far less in private sector

Pension cost, a vast amount of additional cost employing someone in public

Although public sector pay has lagged behind private sector this has not taken into account the additional pension contributions needed for public sector workers and any pay rise is taxed at the person’s highest rate plus NI so the difference in rise of take home pay is less than reported.

Given the recent poor performance of the public sector I am surprised more has not been outsourced especially as it takes the pressure of the government on strikes.

This should be a market where outsourcing companies like Capita are able to increase their business.

This is a mess, looks like the average price over the quarter will be used but this means if for one quarter either Oil or Gas is just above the floor WFT is taken for everything.

Also not sure if this tax is removed retrospectively if both O&G below floor or from that point on until one goes above the floor.

This may well change after the O&G companies point out the floors (excuse my pun) in this policy.

As I said "I expect no less from Hunt and this government" complete bunch of idiots.

My apologies, I have just read the HMG statement and as you say it clearly states 'oil and gas'

The mind boggles...

"The tax rate for oil and gas companies will only return to 40% if both average oil and gas prices fall to, or below, $71.40 per barrel for oil and £0.54 per therm for gas, for two consecutive quarters"

This seems crazy to have a cliff edge for the WFT, it means we will need a fall in the prices to enable to make a decent profit, if prices go up high enough to make a decent profit with the WFT I am sure another rise will soon come along.

This cliff edge approach and the 2 consecutive quarters will give no confidence to companies for future investment and will need to work of the worst case scenario (ignoring a price crash) of prices just above the floor especially on developments where external finance is required. However I expect no less form Hunt and this government.
