Data will be linked in real-time to the DLT's Transport Management Centre.

All public transportation vehicles and 10-wheel vehicles now must have telematics equipment, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed expansion of the mandate to medium-duty trucks including the 6-wheeler segment until after 2021.

Tesla’s request for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to approve a millimeter-wave sensor for child protection and anti-theft measures has been granted. Along with five other companies, Tesla received “a grant of waivers” on April 14, 2021, that would allow the installation of radar sensors in the 57-64 GHz frequency band in passenger motor vehicles. The system is now likely to contribute to the imminent release of a driver monitoring system, which would keep drivers attentive during the use of the company’s Full Self-Driving suite.

The document also granted Vayyar Imaging Ltd., Valeo North America, Infineon Technologies America Corp, IEE Sensing Inc., and Brose North America to use millimeter-wave sensors. Tesla and IEE were approved for 60-64 GHz, while the other companies can utilize 57-64 GHz.

Last year, Cadillac unveiled the concept for the Lyriq and the design was almost universally loved.

It featured some aggressive lines that gave the vehicle a modern look, but it was still visibly a Cadillac.

With the production version unveiled today, Cadillac confirmed that they stuck to the original design.

Musk’s claim has not been independently verified, but the Harris County Police Department said it would serve a warrant to obtain the data.

Musk also agreed with a Twitter commenter who said that Autopilot would not operate without anyone in the driver’s seat or touching the steering wheel every 10 seconds and that it won’t break the speed limit. He added that "standard Autopilot would require lane lines to turn on, which this street did not have."

Fox News has previously tested Autopilot and determined that it was capable of operating without anyone touching the wheel for around a minute, at least, under certain circumstances. Tesla’s own documentation says only that the feature will disengage "if it does not detect your hands on the steering wheel for a period of time," without specifying how long that period is.

"The fundamental problem here is that Tesla does a poor job of driver monitoring. Unlike several other automakers, Tesla only uses a torque sensor in the steering wheel to try to detect when the driver is moving the wheel. This is a cheap but very imprecise method," Abuelsamid said.
