33: I personally think opecs grip on the market is over. The Houthis could easily “take out” the Saudis oil capacity if the conflict escalates. I also think Iran will control Hormuz going forward. Abz is right about turning off pipelines and refineries. You can encounter all sorts of problems. That’s very close to happening. Then you are into an unprecedented period.

Another 2 week of high oil prices and it goes to $200 imo.

You also have an issue with Ukraine-Russia war. The Ukrainians have very advanced drone capabilities and hit Russia oil terminals pretty easily and regularly.

The world needs over 100 million bopd.

You can’t just turn off refineries and switch em back on. It’ll take months and months to sort out. Oil infrastructure has been damaged and more may be in the future.

33: the problem now facing the world is when you “turn off” refineries they take a long time to be “switched back on”. Same with pipelines. Even if the conflict ended today, it’d take some time to “normalise” things. You’ve also got the issue of the destruction of refinery capacity and the potential for more destruction. As we know, they take quite a while to rebuild.

And this conflict won’t be over anytime soon imo. Both sides have a fundamental difference. Neither can probably “win outright” so it’d effectively a stalemate.
