Picked this up this morning, the drop seems overdone but looking at the order book it may have a few points to go. It seems a solid business definitely worth a punt at these rates, in and out.

As a former holder and who did very well out of Nex, I am surprised you are still down here, it is a well run company and all to play for now Covid is behind us, I know the price of oil is a factor but it looks overdone, definitely looking to buy I if it drops anymore. @Scotty, IAG maybe 60% hedged this year, but what about the Hedges/swaps for 2023? IAG May decide to reduce their fuel hedge/swaps if they believe oil volatility will ease, but if they get it wrong it will be expensive, not an easy one for the hedging team. The only factual factor on the horizon is that all future hedges will be significantly more expensive now. The reason we are stalling is certainly down to the price of oil, if oil ever did hit 200$ ppb we would be fecked, don’t believe the s-hite about alternative fuels, it is years away.

With Brent Crude at 128$ ppb, this does not bode well for airlines. Yes, IAG are hedged for this year but if these prices are going to be long term more financial pressure and uncertainty on operating costs.

@Lloyd: War would benefit the oilers and if Russia did invade it would smash through 100$ ppb by Friday and would put the markets in a spin, that is a psychological figure. Not ideal when you are running an airline that one of your two largest costs is going to sky rocket. My bet is that Russia will not invade and that is the gamble. Incidentally looking at BA flights for work and leisure and I have to say that Business prices are much higher than pre-Covid.

@Repprr: Nobody knows what the SP is going to do tomorrow morning, only fools make forecasts on short term movements. I am not a Chartist but after 4 days and looking at the candle today, yes, you could say it is running out of steam. If uncle Joe praised praised Boris tonight on his handling of Covid and the USA planned to follow, the SP would go up tomorrow, no doubt. Sentiment changes by the minute, you just have to judge it and often rely on a good dollop of luck. I have seen this share enjoy 10 plus green days in a row, no one knows, it is all about averages and planning around a future point in time. As stated, the Thursday before Easter it will be 200p plus. Zig zag zig zag North. GLA.
