Bananaman, I don’t want to engage in a ethical discussion about burning fossil fuels, my point is that because BP have had to write down their Oil and Gas reserves (Mostly Oil) because of forecasted low prices is not to be dismissed.

BBB- They are still assets with an economic value which would have provided the company with future benefits, writing off 20% of the Balance Sheet is not to be dismissed, not the end of the world, but nonetheless concerning.

I hope I am wrong but it looks like the SP is going to take a battering this afternoon.

He has been with BP for A long time No doubt but every time I hear him speak he is speaking about green energy and a cleaner world, you can’t make oil clean.

You can’t write off 17.5 billion and pay a divi. I fear that might match Shell or go even further the best outcome would be 50% but I can’t see it.

Looney came in at a bad time but he is not a Dudley or a Haywood who steered BP through some bad times, to me he seems to be embarrassed about being an oil man.

Juju when Shell reduced their Divi the shares dropped about 8% and Crude at the time was 25$ a bbl. IMO a dividend drop is already built into the SP so I can’t see anything more than a 50% drop in divi, I have a feeling this quarter could get over the line and if Crude doesn’t go much further South and possibly climb who knows? If I knew BP were going to reduce the dividend on the 4th of August, yes I would be selling my stock on the 3rd and buying it back on the 4th. I think you would possibly see a 5% reduction in SP but it would not be a crazy drop.

It was stated at the AGM 27/05 all Future dividends will be declared quarterly and the 4th of August is the release of the second quarter results and dividend announcement.

Spoon_Key, IAG will not have a hope in hell of turning over the Government with this quarantine debacle. IAG know that, what they are doing is Pushing the topic up the agenda to instigate discussion and put influencers on the back foot and make sure the decision at the end of June is a formality.

What will get the airlines flying again is those GDP figures released today, a drop of 20% which means from Feb to April the Economy rolled back 18 years, May is not going to be much better BJ knows he has to get things going. If we have to wait Until then you will not see the SP going much further South, as if it does Myself and others will be piling in.

I thought the price would have had stronger momentum, obviously a lot of burnt fingers this week so taking profit at 2:80, lets see what happens in the next hour. I agree on Monday opening, providing there is no bad news it will be a positive opening. If there are any positive government announcements it will hit 3:50 on Monday.

Just sold all my oil stock and put into IAG, watch this baby spike this afternoon. Over the water the airline futures are bouncing.

Make no mistake this share will rise before close, FOMO will kick in, a bit of news over the weekend, Futures up on the dow, a bit of 2:30 momentum, I see this closing 2.90 plus.

You have got to take into account that the USA airline stocks made up ground a lot faster than FTSE airline stocks, AA doubled in 5 days. I wouldn’t bought back in this afternoon if I thought it was going down 10% tomorrow morning. This stock has the Friday feeling, everyone knows it is a risk not holding this stock over the weekend. If this drops tomorrow morning more than 5% I will be selling my BP shares to pile in. Make no mistake this is a well fancied stock and investors are waiting to pile in. The current SP is now attractive.
