This is obviously a far bigger topic then my basic level of understanding, it just seems wrong. Also heard the NMC story the other day where they are now suing without any real evidence.
The example you give with Thomas Cook is a great example i.e. the TaxPayer having to pay out to get people home, Whilst I'm not saying shorting was the sole reason, this appeared to be a badly run business but it certainly didn't help.
Anyway, these are just the views of someone with a very basic understanding of it. Can anyone list what the positives are (apart from some people making lots of money out of a failing business)
