China wants Africa in the Sinosphere. Africa has abundance of resources; a young population; has been underdeveloped, and has deep antagonism from the impact of being `the west playground' (see Chinweizu, `the west and the rest', and a multitude of other literature).

KOD could get whacked by Mali government and Chinese interests. Only makes KOD risky, not the project. Lets see how Labour Australia, Germany, US and many others, which depends on China (and Asia), responds to Trump reality. The Trump Rhetoric has mostly been `water off a ducks back'.

The debate dichotomy, in the broadest sense, is States vs Markets...I think the more interesting area is states and markets...Hey this is established theory, backed by ongoing empirical analysis and debate. Leaders' ideologies are informed by, unsurprisingly, ideas. Seems to me successful economies have developmental states underpinning them...look at the amount the US government pumps into R&D and supports/advances its corporations' interests...

The merits of dictatorships depends on the type of dictatorship - M'butus congo was a Kleptocracy, dictatorships in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan were authoritarian developmental states. Joseph Magufuli of Tanzania veered to the latter rather than the former, China does the same (but more state directed), the Indian state of Kerela is, I think, more guided to human capital development ...interesting subject...don't fall into stereotypes.

Authoritarian states require regime legitimacy or else they collapse/become authoritarian Kleptocratic states (Markos' in Philippines) that spend national resources on policing/state control...many backed by the west if such states are resource rich/strategically important.

Roger, i have been in and out of kod for some 8-10 years. I have been in and out, throughout that time. I lost faith, but kepr watch. Then accumulated a lot of free shares between 0.18-0.31 about 3-5 years ago. I still run on them, but have added during the recent drop. While there has never been a better time given funding and proximity to production. These is always a risk, but i think we are over the line...all will be revealed in the not too distant future.
