There are no current plans to expand the East London harbour, although Molefe does point out that this might be reconsidered depending on the extent of the coal deposits being mined by Elitheni, and one possibility might be to look at providing coasters linking the two ports. Hello jonc , Keeping things in perspective ...... It will take until the end of 2014 to fill the 2MT order . 3% of the profit will come off the top for the community and then 26% off the balance for the BEE , though the BEE owes us for loans out of it . We should have another 10 MT of washed exportable coal over the life of the existing find . Until further announcements from the company I know of no other coal for export . What's left could be sold locally for many things but I have yet to hear of any other contracts . They have sold some to brick companies in the past . Hopefully within the next month the company will beable to release a lot more positive info that will derisk the company and make its future even brighter . :-)

Best not forget about the exchange rates either . The SPAngel note was based on 7.5 ZAR to the dollar , today it's 7.97 ZAR to the dollar. The Pound Sterling is worth 12.34 ZAR today .

I don't know the exacts but if you look at the SPAngel note from Jan. 2010 you'll get an idea . Washing to a 50% yield should improve the ash content even further, possibly down to 15%-20% range in reach of the premium coal marketed out of RBCT (RB 1) which markets presently at U$90/t FOB. Assuming some modest discounts are offered for new product entering the market, this superior zone could therefore fetch in the region of U$70 - $85 per tonne FOB at East London. We therefore estimate the value in the ground of this 25m tonnes resource at U$77 per tonne would be around U$2 billion. I believe RB1 and API 4 are both FOB 6000 kcal NAR. "The Off-take Agreement is based on a 5500 Kcal/kg coal, FOB Port of East London, using the API4 price as a reference. A draft version of the scoping report is made available for review and comment by all stakeholders and relevant authorities. The final scoping report is then lodged with the DEA for consideration.

WSP is hoping to have the Scoping Report for PEL ready for public reviewing by the end of this month. Should be interesting to see what changes the delay has brought ....:-)
