DG - the number that NM mentioned was $4 billion, not 2.5. And that's just the start. A further 20%, bearing in mind economies of scale as well, and it should comfortably exceed $5 billion by PFS. Throw in a few optimization studies and you could probably push it up to $6 billion.

Then, throw in some wild cards - there's that mooted second core at Trivinio. What if that delivers more than expected? They've only got one core from there at the moment...

KB007 - do you even understand what "anti-dilution at 10%" means? Newcrest was at 13.5% odd, BHP comes in for an additional 5% (the other 6% was in circulation), so Newcrest has only been diluted down to around 12.7% (can't be bothered to do the exact calcs). 12.7% is comfortably higher than 10%, hence my question.

Byron - I'm thinking along very similar lines. MRE2 put in black and white that Alpala is Tier 1. The PEA will show, in black and white, that this is an extremely "robust" (NM's words) investment.

So, what it means is that BHP does NOT need another major to step in and start the process. As long as the board and 60% (from memory) of shareholders (excluding Newcrest or BHP) approve it, then it's a goer.

Frankly, for a £500mil mcap company that is poor. Whose job is it to update these presentations? If it isn't in anyone's job spec then why isn't it? Basics, basics. Yes, doing a great job on the ground etc., but why sell yourself short with a shoddy presentation?

Certainly in the case of Newcrest, they are far above the 10% threshold. Is it that NM doesn't mind bending the rules a bit and topping up the coffers at a decent price while he's at it?

Why is it that Alpala has of the order of 15 of the top 40 porphyry copper drill cores in history? It seems rather incredible, when there are deposits like Escondida, Grasberg etc. that have been drilled to death (and which are both richer and larger than Alpala).

Jerry, yes I would think so. I'm pretty sure they will be comparing it to the whole lot. So, there will be a lot of uncommercial dross in there (tiny deposits, all inferred, poor grades, etc). That's why they hasten to add that SOLG deserves a premium. The premium should be way more than it is at the moment though.

$3.5 billion. So, we now have the very baseline price that NM has in his head. I imagine NM is thinking big on this and it will exceed $3.5 billion by some margin.

NM has been on the board of 9 previous companies which have been sold, generating a total of $5 billion for shareholders. NM has stated ( from memory) that SOLG would be his biggest yet. Now, someone asked the question on here a while ago (to which I saw no answer): what was the biggest single constituent of the $5 billion? The answer is Arrow Energy which was sold for...wait for it...

It's worth remembering that the only way NM is going to monetise his rather large shareholding is by a takeover. He's not going to be able to sell it into the market at any point without tanking the share price.

FR, doesn't matter what I say - you'll twist it so that you are "right". I'm talking about poxy small-cap shares like GGP and like SOLG used to be. What was the last placing here done at? Yes, a 30% premium for a cool £45mil.

GGP's history is littered with big discount placings into pretty much every price rise. It is a small-cap dog that may finally have found something and the begging bowl will be coming round toute de suite.

Ok, last post on this - yes, seen it countless times whereby the board assures that no additional capital is required and then bam a discount placing hits - the justification, to accelerate this or that programme, or to buy this or that "opportunity". Unless you're new to investing, you will know what I mean, even if you won't admit it.

Yes, that's all it took. You've an answer to everything in your own mind. But you haven't countered my statement regarding a placement. I have done due diligence, and it is coming.

Feel free to gloat if it hits 3p, but on the flip side will you eat humble pie if they do a discount placing?

FR, sorry but that's just absolute horse-turd. You said you sold out at the recent 45p peak! Then you sold out on MRE2 news (again!). And yet you still have 800k shares. I'm struggling to keep up. You must be playing this absolutely perfectly.
