I’ll be honest, I hope we don’t get a bid. I’d far rather play the long game and have the company get back on track.
The fireworks on the SP if a bid comes in will be unnerving frankly, as I would expect the SP to triple overnight far above any low ball offer, and then present a very real dilemma to me as to whether to stick or twist.
I have a very firm TP in mind as I never set out without one when invest. I don't trade, wouldn't know how to and not interested. I don't even hate on people or funds that short sell a share and find it funny there's so much vitriol towards them. It is what it is :)
The stockmarket is a casino, it's red or black. Some place their chips on red, others on black. Very simple. I like to keep it real. I only invest in companies I understand, and have an interest in. Sorry, I digress...
Do I think this could return to it's all time highs? I don't see why not quite honestly. That said, casino remember... you never know. Nobody truly expected a weird virus would circulate the globe and we'd get shut down like lemmings with the phoney global response. Nobody expected war in Europe but we got it. I don't really give a f* *k about that, crudely speaking. I mean I do... but in respect of my investment, I don't. TBH the war served me well as I was able to invest in this company at a fire sale price.
So who knows? My target price is rather far north of here and all being well, I'm almost certain I'll be seeing it at some point within the next 24 months. I have balls of steel and the patience of a sloth so I'll just be riding this puppy all the way up without too much of a care for the daily fluctuations.
Believe me the short funds are slithering their way out of their positions and this is only going one way. We have positive RNS after RNS to follow over the next 6-18 months. It is what it is. Clear for all to see and I believe the SP is spring loaded and ready to go.
And the world now predicting a mild at best recession respectively. Which I've been predicting for well over 6 months now against the grain of the majority across these (and the other) boards. IYKYK :)
Onwards and upwards here.
Bloody hell I have some work to do to digest all that Velo haha. Thanks buddy, extremely insightful as ever, dunno how you do it :) It’s always really helpful for me as you know I don’t use chart metrics as an investment strategy; but bloody love hearing about them from people that do as think it’s solid ass research and insight. Hope everyone else here appreciates it.
We need to surpass this 200-day sucker to go guns blazing... or do we... I feel continued good sentiment from both 'people' and the 'economy' can steer a ‘large’ business like this continually in the right direction. We've seen this since the RNS. Everyone else expected some sort of pullback. I didn’t in the short term due to the fact it’s been priced to fail at the literal fire sale price of £5. My estimated NAV here is around £8 and I believe THAT to be the floor, not 5 squid. As you know from that 'other' stock, I have my own strange ways of assessing sentiment and its impact upon stocks.
Sentiment has changed drastically here and I had this feeling ASC would perform exactly as it has done for the past few days; call me. blind optimist (I'm DEFINITELY not) but I just felt the ridiculously low SP was priced for failure of the business. And having run my own tools of assessment for the past few months on ASOS and their model, the investment case was profound enough for me to invest heavily and very happy in doing so.
So is the business on a single road to financial utopia here at present? Nope, there’s many obstacles that need tone overcome. But I for one appreciate that management has aired those problems, defined what they need to do publicly and have set about doing just that. I believe in the business model, I believe in the ‘product’, I believe in online retail, I believe in the core / cult following of ASOS amongst twenty-somethings and I believe in the management. Therefore I’m invested for the long term and we reassess my position with each and every passing month.
Happy to be here frankly. Opportunities like this do not present themselves very often. They did on that ‘other’ stock, and I believe they have done here too :)
