If the contract for the turbine pin piles has not been let and the article from November 2019 then that is potentially telling. Saipem did not go elsewhere when BiFab went into administration so is this contract still available. I note that it says at least 8 jackets so we may see further jackets being ordered. The contracts for the remaining jackets are worth upwards of £140m depending how many jackets there are to a turbine.

I have come across this article https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/business/business-news/1812409/bifab-administrators-plan-to-find-new-buyer/. It sheds an interesting light on yesterday's announcement. Also it raises the interesting possibility that other companies that were considering BiFab before it went into administration will again consider contracting with the yards. It is also noteworthy that Saipam did not let the contract elsewhere while BiFab was in administration which bodes well for future contracts.

I wonder what the year end order book will look like. If Triumph Subsea does place a contract for both ships plus yesterday's contract we are looking at a sizeable order book within 2 years of reentering the shipbuilding market.

there is this from renewables now https://renewablesnow.com/news/saipem-contracts-scottish-fabrication-for-8-nng-jacket-foundations-738200/. Of note is that 54 turbines are being built so there is scope for a possible 46 more jackets if at the same price would generate around £149m.

I have done a quick calculation and the jackets are costing £3.25m each. I suspect that this is a test and if INFA delivers then further more significant contracts will follow. The Crown Estate have granted leases for I think it was five windfarms so there is significant possibilities from windfarms just around England. There is also Scotwind due to be awarded soon so this is a timely contract.

I was calculating potential revenues form windfarms on the basis of a jacket cost of £2m have to do a rethink.

whatamess In relation to your 11.36 post if you were to look at my profile you will see I have posted mainly on INFA I own shares in more companies than I post on. The fact that BP only posts on one share is not at all suspicious.

I note that some people on this board have argued that the purchase of the shipyards was a mistake and INFA should concentrate on Islandmagee. While I can see some merit in this argument there is one significant flaw in this argument. It fails to explain how INFA will be funded prior to the first cavern being built. I note that there is material uncertain about when and if the Marine License without which the project cannot progress will be granted.

As external funding will not be forthcoming until this license is in place this means that a strategy of only progressing the Islandmagee project would put into question the future financial viability of INFA.

The current strategy being pursued by the BoD has the advantage of providing a source of income which currently covers a proportion of the running costs of INFA. If I am reading future prospects correctly and inline with the company objectives during the 2021/22 financial year INFA should move into profits while we may still wait for the commencement of Islandmagee.

The question I have if INFA had pursed the strategy of concentrating solely on Islandmagee how would INFA be supported.

I agree with the 14.13 post from Monday by Chrisatrdg we really need an RNS to explain this international strategy.

Stifler In relation to your 07.47 post you are with respect displaying a lack of knowledge in relation to administrative law. All legal avenues cannot have been exhausted as we have yet to have a final decision on whether then ML will or will not be granted. Legal proceedings can drag on for years yet.

Chrisatrdg In relation to your 18.19 post there was a recent thread where a recent act of the Northern Ireland Assembly was discussed. This Act had the effect that planning decisions did not have to go to the executive I suspect that the ML may be covered by this provision. I had a healthy discussion on the point of a public enquiry on #infa and the problem I was having was to see what additional information a public enquiry would generate that would not have already been raised in the prior consultations.

Chrisatrdg In relation to your 16.28 post why do you think the ML will go to the executive? I suspect that the Minister will sit on it until just before the summer recess then make a decision so members of the Assembly would not be able to ask questions for a couple of months.
