it has been said its about testing. now the nhs one is going to be dropped due to safety concerns - already out there- "Covid-19 tests used as part of the NHS testing system have been temporarily stopped because some of the kits may not have met safety standards.
The Government has issued a warning for all settings to ‘pause’ the use of test kits produced by Randox laboratories ‘with immediate effect and until further notice’."

t-cells are a first line defence. for people who are likely to be first in line for a vaccine or are already badly affected- antibodies are what is required. Hence I would say presence of T-cells- you've had it and hardly knew. Presence of antibodies you've had it, probably knew about it, and yr safe (for now).

Good post Safy. I have a background in biological science and everything about Covid suggests it isn't going to go away. As is typical with these Virus' I fully expect a second wave in winter. For all of the reasons you state antibody testing will very important and lab based tests will never have the capacity for what will be required. Whatever the capacity of ODX there will be a massive market and can envisage a scenario where they would be selling 5 x the current target capacity easily next year.

what's for sure is large scale testing and repeated testing of those known to have had the virus is going to be needed to fully assess how long the antibodies remain. this will be needed to fully understand how and if a vaccine can be developed and how frequent repeat vaccination will be required.

Seems the NHS think that having covid 19 antibodies is useful. So surely testing to see if you have them is!
