Riddler is acting like his namesake - mischief making. Quote from the last part of the article: "Circle’s asset base remains attractive “and if a deal or strategic investor can be secured, we believe value can ultimately be released”". We know this is serious but it is not clear just how serious. Operationally Circle Oil seems to be in good shape. It's just financially where the problem is - with debt servicing.

Looking at the behaviour of the oil futures $30 seems to be a bottom which is only penetrated briefly. The current concern is because Iran comes on stream on Friday and it is unknown just how much will come on stream. However the oil price is only one of several reasons that COP is down so much.

The 'experts' in the studio had no idea what may happen. The oil price is getting down to silly levels. When inflation is taken in to account we are reaching 1986 levels. In fact the problem now is storage and when they run out of storage to put the stuff it's going to come directly onto the market at silly prices.

Yes. These court cases can often drag on. When they are sorted I am relatively confident the underlying value of the company will restore the share price. In every other case with other companies that has happened.

So when are these court cases going to happen? Stockbuyer implied they would be over by the end of January. Now everyone seems to know about them it might as well be told. If many are spurious and the others are dealt with swiftly then the market reaction will be favourable and we may see a sensible share price.

I am sure Stockbuyer was largely accurate in what he posted. I am just concerned as to why he should post that information so many times. Malicious? Or stupid? Certainly if he and his group genuinely have a sizeable investment in COP then it would be very stupid to emphasize the court cases. There have been many other companies which have had court cases (GSK in China and many of the banks, to name but a few) and after they were settled their worlds continued to revolve and their share prices rose. The market is always spooked beforehand and rallies after. COP should be no different. Emphasizing the problem to the market just causes a bigger fall and COP is now les than 10% of the value it was and yet is actually not in that bad shape.

Someone else on that board also hopes that: "RKH doesn't get involved with the can of legal worms that is Circle". Let's hope that can of legal worms is sorted as soon as possible.

At least one person on that board thinks it could be a good link up. At the current oil price there is no chance COP will return to a reasonable share price unless there is a link up with a company where there would be good synergy. That may be the case with Rockhopper.

I don't think the shareholders will accept a worse deal. Currently nearly half an RDSB share = about £7.60 plus £2 = £9.60. That is less than the current BG share price of £9.80. Daft for shareholders to accept a deal worse than the one on offer. 0.4454 of current RDSB share price = £6.82 plus £3.83 = £10.65. If you are going to negotiate at least aim for a better deal, not a worse one.

All the doubters are starting to come out now. Maybe they just haven't invested in BG and don't want those who have to benefit when they are not? Once an investor pulls out of a company they also lose their voting rights. Those that are in BG by the time of the vote will be able to vote and will likely vote for the deal. The doubters also take a very short term view on the basis of the current very low oil price. Already there is unrest in Saudi Arabia and the government there will have to do something about it. Don't be surprised if the oil price rises back to the $40's or even $50's early next year. Of course it may not happen but that could risk serious unrest in Saudi Arabia and other oil producing nations.
