We can appeal and install compression equipment. They are not mutually exclusive. They just cost money.

I see just one small buy and three small sells this morning. This really needs an injection of good end of Q1 news. We have a good, stable company but the market always seems to need some news input to keep the SP ticking over.

My understanding is that compression equipment could be used without the need for permits. That would not be the 'end of the company'.

Get compression equipment to improve the gas flow from PG10, and even PG11a, and then, with that extra income, AST could look at Croatia this June and eventually move on from Slovenia if the politics can't be sorted there.

AST have been around since November 2004. Therefore any permit requirements before then were for the previous administrators of the wells which have been in existence for decades. I presume the difficulties with permits since 2004 has been because the ownership has been with a foreign company. That is often the reason for such difficulties in these countries. They would never express it as such but it is always unsurprising that difficulties only seem to arise when foreign companies get involved. Only then do environmental activists appear and local politicians object.

In Britain the law applies to all equally. In fact foreign companies often have certain advantages to attract their investment. That's not the case in many other countries. Some of us thought that EU rules would ensure fairness. More fool us.

If they genuinely needed shares they would raise the price to make holders more likely to sell some shares.

Not the RNS many would have expected but at least an opportunity for those who can get along to have some communication with the BoD.

Having JB as the COO has put an O&G expert in charge of operations. Even if the activists against AST discount his views, because he would be biased in favour of AST, the independent experts in Slovenia can be involved in backing up JB's statements. Colin was an easy target for them previously as he's just an accountant with legal training. Colin is better suited as the CEO in overall charge with his hard earned experience in Slovenia and qualifications as an accountant and legal training.

If the government took over the gas production I'm sure the environmental concerns would evaporate.

It took a foreign company to come in and continue what had been done for decades already for the NGO to appear against it and the government to realise the environment may be effected. Hmmmmm ....

I only see 7 buy trades and no sells today. All fairly small amounts of money but with the last 2 at the full price of the spread at 0.3p. Some are having a punt still.

They needn't be a priority. If the Slovene government was cooperating with the permit process that would indicate a normal fair process. They are not cooperating. It's an indicator as to whether it's a good idea to invest more money for stimulation or not. Currently they have made it clear it's not a good idea to do so. I believe the saying is: 'good money after bad'.

The same applies with AST shares. You couldn't ask for a better price to buy in at but most consider it may well be good money after bad, and go elsewhere.

Why are you surprised? AST is going no where until the politics is sorted. The Slovene government are not allowing the permits and they are needed to ensure a good gas flow rate. There could be some stimulation without permits but how could a company, any company, invest money in a country that will not cooperate with those companies? Eventually they have to be just left to stew in their own juice. Even if AST could raise some more money to invest they shouldn't until the politics is sorted.

On the other hand there's gas in the ground and ten wells already in place. If and when the politics is sorted AST will well up above 1p again.
