That's a much more sensible approach than the constant Colin haranguing we have had from some. If John had been there from earlier he probably would have argued the oil and gas case a lot better than Cameron Davies appears to have done with the Slovene government, as the previous oil and gas expert on the Board. John has been much more proactive at his first share holders meeting and, as a geophysicist of a Polish O & G company, he would have had the expertise. Colin is an accountant with legal training.

The BoD now has a much better balance of expertise. An accountant with the Slovene experience as the CEO and an O & G expert as the COO. Much better. Get the politics sorted and the known gas resource with ten existing wells will be flowing, with a little stimulation help.

Colin certainly has the staying power. If he doesn't we can always have Theresa May, she'll be looking for a job soon. Staying power is all she has.

The only person who can 'give up' gell is the CEO Colin. We can just sit and watch. If you are advising people to sell then that is up to the individual share holders and not for you to say.

Whatever. Just you keep plugging away at Colin from various angles. It doesn't change the reality in the real world.

Payment for failure has been the norm for CEOs in all companies for decades Scott. Nothing new here. And it's not been Colin' s failure as it's been the government's intransigence. So let's not blame Colin for the current outcome when the government had all the authority and AST had none.

The reason why it might have made me feel a bit jittery is the way he equated risk as being the opposite of reward. You lower the risk by having the right equipment and the right expertise in place. BP and Conocophilips had an excellent reward because they had the financing and the right people in place to get the low hanging fruit. 88E are picking around the edges now and any reward will be less but with greater risk. I was also a little bothered by his proviso that they might not get any agreement at all. That puts doubt in the mind. It should be unnecessary to say that if the farmout talks are going really well.

Whatever. You keep blaming the CEO for the politicians' failings. With the politicians wanting their own gas for their own economy and energy security my granny could have been the CEO. And she's dead.

Clearly JL and other Slovene politicians have achieved their objective for making this a 'not to buy' share, as they want AST to disappear. Colin and John now need to change that. Not any evidence that is happening in any short term. That is the problem, or one of many.

Well, the MMs know how markets work ... Just raise the price substantially seems to be the solution. I'd go with that.

I know that's a joke (at least I hope so) but if that were really the case then there's a case for a placing as SML would then need more shares to satisfy the demand.

We're not forgetting any of that dv. Unfortunately you are mostly preaching to the converted on this forum. Apart from a few who just don't believe the BoD because they are used to the BoD's of other companies who aren't as honest. Those that think the aquisition of the remaining 50% of Redmoor from NAE just has to need a placing, despite what the BoD is putting in place for funding.

A bit of upward movement this morning? I only see buys. Unfortunately the length of time this is hanging around at this level will inevitably result in some selling as people need money. The MMs seem to be waiting for such sells to maintain a low price for them to pick up shares cheaply.

So, some news on progress but nothing specific. Just a way of appeasing shareholders as it's going beyond the Q1 timescale. The SP is showing signs of recovery, but very slowly and it may reverse at any time.

Nickel_I, you clearly have the glass half empty viewpoint. Some have a glass half full. But most like to believe this BoD as they are cautious enough for the rest of us.

I think JP and PW were being very cautious about the possibility of dilution. In fact you could see PW thought JP was being too cautious and chipped in with 'possibly no dilution' when JP suggested a minimal possibility of dilution. I think they have the funding sorted and were just being very cautious for shareholders. As they then said they own around 50 million shares each and wouldn't want to see any dilution of their shares.
