I can see a couple of scenarios for the placing.
#1 XTR think assay results will be good, so releasing them after placing will allow the finance company to benefit.
#2 XTR think assay results will not be very good, so placing now before release.
I think #1 is more likely, as otherwise it would lose a lot of trust for CB in terms of future placings for his various companies. This had to happen at some point. At first I was surprised it was this early, but after reading the RNS it makes sense in a few ways. They get the drilling rigs booked early in what is likely to be a busy time in Australia, they remove any uncertainty about placings (which should be good for the share price in the medium term) and they get a clear run for the rest of the year.
