Would I be right in thinking that these extra shares, that could be being created, are in fact a ‘quantitive-easing‘ exercise, like what the gov did 10 years ago following the financial crash?
I’ve taken up some of my allocation in support of Sir Rodger/SAGA. It’s all I could afford at the time plus when divided by 15, I get a nice round number! LOL
Not that I’m CDO or anything..... BOL everyone!
Ah! Now we have something to get our dentures into!
Thanks all Dudes for the numbers and general instructions as to how to go about this.
Much appreciated.
Dunno about Boris, he’ll be here a while yet, just like the Covid.
As for that virus Trump, he’s going to get us all killed!
'wrinklies' is worse!
And certainly not 'coffin dodgers!'
Gawd, nearly everyone is younger than me.
Still, I'm alive and kicking and intend hanging around till this bludy SP goes up well past 30p.
Will it ever get to a quid? Within 2 years? Eh?
Aye....dream on.
ATB dudes
Wow! Today......
Now there’s a list of deductive reasoning and factual comments from you all!
I feel better already! LOL
If ever there was a time when one would wish for even a modest lottery win, it is now.
Hi Alas_Smith..... :)
" it seems to me pretty inevitable that the company will be split up"
I suppose logic, in any other world, would suggest that one offloads the part of the business that is loss making before the whole company goes under.
But this is SAGA.
Saga isnt Saga without the cruise side of the business.
Would there not be a lot of resistance by the shareholders in splitting up?
As a newbie....what happens to the shares if there is a split up?
Is one given a choice as to which half your shares go to?
The insurance side = profits = up.
The cruise side = super losses to the bottom of the deepest ocean trench and get your wet suit on?
I have to keep reminding myself that this is cold finance! :I
Welcome also rupans/koetser.
Wow! ES/EJ! Good on you!
As I know bog all compared to you guys, I shall watch and listen with great interest from the side lines.
There are a few here who I feel are quite informative also, so the banter should be darn good for all.
Onwards and upwards! But mostly upwards please! LOL
Talk about being slow....... geeese!
I get your new alias now! LOL....LOL brilliant!
We need more like you! Haaaa! :)
Welcome AS/EJ.
I found your patter interesting, as did many others there. Generally optimistic and hopeful but always grounded. Didn’t understand all that was being said, but then I’m a newbie! Learning all the time, I hope!
Keep making the tea and coffee for your staff! LOL
If all the shares I have go up in a cloud of smoke, then I’ll be eating beans on toast for the rest of my life, what’s left of it. I’m fit and well and almost 70.
If they soar to previous heights, then there will be people who will benefit, including myself.
I remain optimistic.
Keep her lit AS/EJ
Yes Static, I would have to agree with you regarding your statement.
One never knows what is round the corner. Saga could be another Thomas Cook. Could be......
But I don't think it will go the same way.
I dont think it will go at all.
I think it will go from its tenuous position to greater heights.
A lot has been done of recent months to turn this around amid overwhelming conditions.
Thomas Cook had NOTHING in its back pocket to offset the gigantic debts it incurred.
Virtually all the planes were old stock so were not worth twopence!
Saga has debts. They are in the form of two up to date modern ships which I am sure have been upgraded regarding air conditioning. CoVid is not air bourne by the way! Unless the wind is howling in your direction standing next to someone who is sneezing!
They have remodelled their business strategy. It appears to be working.
The hatches have been battened down. They have drawn in £'s from other sources.
They will gain momentum. It's not going to happen overnight.
Right now I'm pretty much maxed out financially.
My brother and sister think I've lost it completly.
Have I aquired a gambling addiction? LOL No!
I wouldnt know how to place a bet on a horse ffs!
Agree Pianista, Compass007, Pokerchips.
Nervous yes.... but I refuse to be anything else other than optimistic!
Com'on Static.....it's not all doom and gloom. :)
Whatever one borrows from the Guv, grant aid or whatever, one has to pay back.
It's not for free. Saga has enough to pay back already without having to beg for more me thinks huh?
I wish to thank all you dudes for your ongoing evaluations throughout the day and yesterday.
It's been my first proper AGM 'visit' and serious attempt at private investing.
Not sure if I can call it entertaining as I've no nails or hair left! LOL
I've been watching the SP all day and it's suddenly moved nowhere!
I'm going back to bed. Wake me up on friday!
It'll come good....eventually. :)
Roguemale1
Feeble questions.....agreed! And very few!
Really puzzled by that.
No mention of sale price on Sapphire other than what they expected.
Batfasted:
Yeah, thats wot I thought should happen. Supply and demand according to Rodney Hobson!
But being held down or steady because of the imminent AGM which should reveal all.
Including the sell price of Sapphire.
Probably no divi this time either, but not bothered about that so long as Saga continues to hold its existance.
I hope its some good news but recon it'll be pretty even. Dont see it as bad news coming out.
But then only the board knows. Cant hold my breath much longer!
I gotta beleive in santa....sorry, Saga. :)
BOL everyone
Yo Harry!
So I'm an ostrich and I've got blind optimisim! Hilarious. Youre probably right.
I was trying to make the comparison between the gigantic operation that is Carnival and the lesser smaller operation that is Saga.
The bigger they are the harder they fall.
Am I right in saying that the insurance side of things in Saga is relativley successful and that the cruise end is struggling?
But collectively Saga should be able to survive should it not?
Good point Compass007.
Harry again... I stand corrected. I got ahead of myself regarding Assets and Debts.
An asset is not an asset until the debt is paid, which by all accounts I beleive Saga can do.
Tpinvest.... As I understand it CoVid is not easily caught via air ventilation systems. It depends on the system installed, but more by direct contact and injested through the eyes, nose or mouth.
A lot of that is media scaremongering IMO.
Share price is down a bit. People getting the collywobbles before the AGM! LOL
How many passengers did the Sapphire take?
How many passengers could the two new ships each take?
I see Carnival are selling SIX! of their ships and that no doubt is for starters! But they’re huge in comparison to the SAGA ships.
Which is easier to fill, maintain and run?
I’d say two modest sized ships, brand spanking new, have a better chance of survival than 80 floating cities costing billions.
Ok so SAGA still have to pay them off but they’re two good assets all the same.
CoVid 19 will recede. Humans will become somewhat naturally immune to it, like most viruses. Life will continue and adjust like millions before us.
The share price will lift again and if sufficiently, I’ll be booking a cruise!
How could they not say what Sapphire was sold for at the AGM? At least it’s £‘s for the coffers to be used as required. That’s good news. Bookings are doing well.
So where the eff is the bad news?
ATB all....
Yes.
Easing lockdown should allow a continuous lazy rise of SP up until AGM.
A lot will depend on outcome of AGM.
Are we in general agreement that the insurance end of the business is steady? If so, then we need to hear some good news regarding the ships.
Bookings, easing of restrictions, CV19 disappearing over the horizon.
If all these line up then we’ll swiftly sail past 40p!
Thank you Brightside of life. I get the jist of what you're saying.
But there must have been other factors to bring the SP down so dramatically.
However, that's long gone and we're now passing through the middle of CV19 and there aint no cure for those summertime blues.
I think the press and media in general have a lot to answer for, calling our cruise ships 'floating petri dishes'.
That's a bit below the belt, or in our case, below the plimsole line.
Here we are trying to instill a bit of hope in a company that is worth loads more and should be back up above 100p!
It's good to see a Nice Jump Up!
Hi banjo5757,
I sure would like to know what this 'Impairment of goodwill' means and why all the multiple dead cat bounces from £2.25 down to 65p was all about, before CV19 appeared.
I would give my right arm to have all my shares bought at 16.5p Dude!
Doubt if you need to worry about loosing your 12,000 shares. Sit tight for a few months or a year.
I have struggled to bring my Break Even Point down from 52.5p to 30p.
I aint going anywhere just yet.
Like SW10000 says...long haul, but not that long!
Learning as I go and reading what the folks say here.
Excitement was short lived last week but an up on the SP is on it's way!
BOL!
Oh well, it was good while it lasted.
Looks like a bottle of stout instead... :(
LOL
Darn right SW10000 & Fevertreeman.
I understand your euphoria comment as in riding the wave but there is more to SAGA than cruises.
It's the whole package.
And yes Bumpyride….me too years ago! Last July/August discovered humongous drop in SP and had to have go.
Then CV19 appeared. Went down 60% into negative.
For a novice like me that sent my blood to my boots.
I've got my hands round the neck of a bot of champers and waiting.
30p + and I'm popping the cork Dudes!
