Agree, he really really didn't need to time bound this, setting yourself up for failure. The fundamentals are still there though..massive reserves and on land and not 300m under the sea 50 km away from land with no pipeline. The comparisons between BOIL and SYN are interesting..both around the same SP both needing JV partners but technically the challenge for BOIL is 10x greater I guess

You never know what you're going to get when dealing with other cultures...I've found the Chinese lighting fast and bend over backwards to help once you've gained their trust..Indian's.. the price is never the price, brinkmanship and everything is negotiable. I bet SYN are chasing this around and the partner is trying to get the best deal they can with last minute changes

We know that there's going to be centralisation in some areas but I heard on the grapevine that details won't be clear until mid year. In theory you should get a better bang for your buck by having say 1 buyer looking after 1 supplier for both defence and civil but almost naturally that buyer will find himself/herself biased towards the location they happen to work in. I've seen it before in another very large multinational where priorities are dictated by who's in your face the most.
