Try as I have, I still can't understand this consolidation. Do I understand correct that for every 8 shares I have, I now get 7 shares + 33.99p a share for my original holding. IE if I had 3,200 shares, I now have 2.800 shares + 3.200x33.99 p which is 1087.68 pounds. How is this a good deal?
If somebody out there can help me I will be very greatful. If it is a good deal, would it be worthwhile buying some more?

Thanks for the advice. I already own Randgold (still waiting for that to shine) and have been looking at Lloyds. I may wait a month or so before spending my WTB money. Have also been looking at Persimmon and Greggs!

Now I just need to find out what to buy instead. Any ideas?

Thanks for your advice. You are right a profit is a fine thing to have so I sold. My mums good advice to me was "never be greedy".

Testing/ call it what you will. I have had AEG shares since 2010 so have done my fair bit of research. I am the biggest fan and supporter of AEG (even my children have shares in AEG) but if this is on the brink of the big break through we have all been waiting for for so many years, then something must be spooking investors. If this is not the case then the shares should be up 8% in anticipation of the results of AEG's demonstration, not down 8%. IMHO.
