Very true...but it is the same drug being trialled - hence my question. Even their website makes no distinction
"Phase III INTEREST study
This second clinical trial is a Phase III double-blind, randomised, parallel-group comparison of efficacy and safety of interferon-beta and placebo in the treatment of patients with moderate to severe ARDS. The study, named INTEREST, conducted in approximately 60 hospitals across Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and UK and has successfully recruited its target of 300 ARDS patients. INTEREST has received funding from the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
In addition to the pan-European Phase III (INTEREST) study, Faron´s Japanese licensing partner Maruishi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is conducting a Phase III Traumakine study in Japan. The two Phase III trials combined aim to treat 420 moderate to severe ARDS patients in total.
In May 2018 the Company reported that the Traumakine INTEREST trial did not meet the primary endpoint in ARDS. Read more
This is despite many years of research suggesting a potential benefit in these very sick patients. Company is conducting further investigations in order to provide additional information on the outcome of the current analysis. "
