Here's a very good podcast that discusses us relations with Russia over the past 30 years. In the 1990s many very senior people (ie. secretary of defense) were strongly advising that expanding NATO east would achieve little except cause escalation with Russia. We are seeing the fruits of this now. This is highly relevant because us intent in Ukraine determines the length of the war. Some in the USA definitely want to prolong this. If they get their way there will be consequences for this stock.
