Problem is that there would be a conflict for the UK between a clear duty to arrest a sitting us president if icc issued an arrest warrant for war crime, versus customary absolute legal immunity for a serving head of state visiting the UK. … sadly, most countries tend to favour state immunity rather than war crime prosecution.

UK follows principle of ‘universal jurisdiction’; so if someone is on UK soil with prima facie evidence of having committed ‘core international crimes’, including war crimes, the UK can and indeed should attempt to detain /prosecute/ render, irrespective of the home country of the suspected war criminal.
