Hi Napthman. All silver(bullion, jewelry,coins)purchased in the UK attracts VA. Silver Britannias can be purchased and held in bonded store to dodge the VAT and they are also free of CGT. Gold Britannias are VAT and CGT free but cannot be put into a SIPP. There is a massive price spread between different bullion dealers. When purchasing coins i use The Pure Gold Co for storing silver Brits and gold Brits. They are very competitive and also offer the best buy back price on the market (well over spot). For in the hand purchases i use Sharps Pixley very well priced and next to the Ritz for afternoon tea, why not. ATB Speedy

Hi Strudel. I am not sure about the Mars bar, Macdonalds or the fishy thing. Gold goes up and down due to supply and demand, the price can also fluctuate with the cost of getting out of the ground (oil,labour etc) I have said many times here it is pointless trying to price gold in FIAT as it is infinite. The biggest driver of the POG over the last few years has been the corrupt COMEX. Gold is a great store of value but will also increase in value due to scarcity, demand and the end of price suppression. Therefor gold will not only be a store of value but also a wealth maker. Storage with insurance for physical gold is almost insignificant in the scheme of things. the amount of space needed to store gold is tiny, you could store £10million worth in a very small space. When you hold equities there is a fee to pay normally 0.5%, this % is comparable to what you would pay to store gold. ATB Speedy

Hi Hydro. The banks will still trade gold in paper form but it will have to be backed by 100% owned physical gold. The future is a regulated blockchain traded digital gold coins backed 100% by physical metal. Rest assured this will see the POG may multiples of todays price. Or will gold be discarded as a relic? Hi Hydro. Basel 111 new regs are coming into play now and must be fully implemented by 2022. All transactions and dealings in the paper gold market will have to be 100% allocated. This will in effect stop the manipulation and a true price discovery in the market will be forthcoming. No one can say if this will be up or down, but my guess is up and in a big way. ATB Speedy

Hi JSP. I would say a split between the two would be sensible. The way GGP has developed over the last few years has taken most by surprise and probably will continue to do so. Buying GGP has been substantially more rewarding than purchasing gold Brits. The coming carnage in equities may reverse that, but no one really knows. ATB Speedy

Hi Droverman. With a fall of 85% in markets and a POG at $1050 all shorts would be covered. The fall in the POG, from todays level, will only then be 45% therefore not so bad compared to markets. I personally feel that a fall of 85% in equities will see massive physical gold purchases and new highs achieved. The bullion banks are now being overrun by physical deliveries being demanded on the COMEX contract and will be forced to exit their shorts. When, not if, the banks go long gold the $ will be toast and the POG will reach levels in FIAT that will seem impossible. The problem with this outcome is the social unrest it will cause. I have said this before now "stay positive but prepare for the worst". ATB Speedy

Hi All. Very quiet here so i will take the opportunity to give you all an update on the COT report covering the week to the close on Tuesday 12th Jan. As expected the criminals (bullion banks) having forced the drop in the POG to clear some of their short position to the tune of 23000 contracts (approx 70 tons of paper gold). HNW individuals and family offices have held out for delivery of 3tons of physical gold in just 12 days. The hedge funds (who are lead by the nose by the banks) have reduced their long positions and added to their short position by approx 38000 contracts, this explains the correction in the POG. Make no mistake, the bullion banks are in full control of the price and will hand the hedge funds their heads on a plate shortly as the rerate to a much higher price unfolds. The banks are still massively short with a net position of just under 200000 contracts that is a massive approx 600000 tons of paper gold. The banks will step the price down more and lure the hedge funds in to a bear trap of massive proportions. This correction is not over and i expect the POG to retreat more until the trap is sprung. This is not a problem for investors but traders beware, if i was trading i would be short the market for a very brief period but i do not trade gold, i only buy. With all this in mind and a lack of news flow for GGP is see the SP wandering around or slightly dropping along with the POG. This is NOT a recommend to sell GGP as news will come very soon and our SP will head north along with that news and the POG. ATB Speedy

Hi TMT. I get your point but the law of diminishing returns comes into play and if a co cannot expand it cannot stay still and will shrink. There is always the exception to the rule and Primark are the only Co to open up a new store in my home town Southend. ATB Speedy

Hi Mulletman. I do not get divis. If a Co does not pay divis the SP would be higher reflecting cash at hand. When divis are paid the value of that Co diminishes by the value of the divis paid. Better for all if you want income sell a few shares every month. Maybe my thinking is wrong, but i never invest for divis. Some Cos (Wheaton or Metalla) business model is so good that they cannot be ignored and if they do pay divis i just reinvest the cash. ATB Speedy

Hi Tacet. The DXY has lost 10%, 100 down to 90 over the last year. In the last few days it has gone from 89 to 9o. I fail to see why you say it is rising fast. These movements for the worlds reserve currency is not good. The USA has just announced a further $2trillion (i had to stop and check that) on top of the vast monthly creation of unearned $s. Hi All. 3 worthwhile utube vids shown here this afternoon. There is a perfect storm coming for gold miners (we nearly are). There is more and more awareness regarding market manipulation by the criminal banks the respective regulators will find it hard to keep on ignoring the corrupt actions of banks. The fines imposed are nothing compared to the profits. The lack of higher revenue with a manipulated gold price for the mining Cos is costing $billions. When the manipulation stops the SP of mining stocks will soar. The constant creation of unearned FIAT will eventually drive the POG to infinity compared to that FIAT. New discoveries of economically sized deposits are reduced due to lack of investment in exploration due to the low POG. Those 3 things, manipulation, FIAT creation and lack of new discoveries will see Cos such as GGP and Newcrest be the go to place for many large scale institutional investors. The next few years will go down in history as the greatest wealth making event ever for those that are correctly positioned. ATB Speedy

Hi All. When you read that investors such as Blackrock etc are managing funds shown in $trillions you know there is too much FIAT sloshing around. Pricing gold in $s £s Euros etc is a complete waste of time. The best way to look to value gold is comparing it to other objects that are finite. Land,food,oil man hours. One thing is for sure our share of gold from Hav will buy quite a lot of spuds. I was thinking i will be too old by the time we see full value here but the speed we are moving at will allow us older ones to at least enjoy some of it, my son and grandson will certainly have a good time. Hi Droverman. The level of corruption in the paper gold market is eye watering. Every ounce of gold sold by mining Cos since the manipulation started has been at a depressed price. What would Newcrests SP be if the price they hedged their gold at was the true value at around $3000/oz. This criminal activity has cost the gold miners and their stock holders untold $billions. That money is gone for ever unless you were the buyer at these low prices. The manipulating will end and it can not be soon enough. ATB Speedy
