Found this on EEENF 88E
I work on the North Slope (Prudhoe Bay/Deadhorse and camps north of it). There is oil being pumped by multiple companies 24/7, 365 days a year. They do not start drilling for oil until they have done surveys and tests to ensure it's there. And oh, is it there! The oil industry hires 1000s of workers up there (more in the winter months when they are building the ice roads). There are truckers, security, medics, cooks, housekeepers, engineers, ice road supervisors, project managers etc. It is an enormous endeavor so you better believe they aren't investing in a "possibility" there is oil.
