So my thoughts are having been a retail operations manager in the past is that staff need at least 4 weeks rota in advance. The company’s will need a week or less to plan their rota. They will then use the interim period to prepare and order in beer and food etc and make any hygiene preparations. So my bet is that if others follow Young’s suit or very close then we should be expecting an update any time soon. The blueprint for Pubs opening must be happening. Imho
In July paying towards furlough will be optional. Employers though can take the opportunity to bring people back part time as long as they pay for those part time hours. The rest of the salary can still be furloughed. This is great as originally this was meant to be from August. This hints at beer gardens being able to trade in July and pubs being able to be shrewd with staff costs. I think there are much worse industry’s to be in post Covid. With air travel limited this could be a strong bounce in mid summer. Up until October staff costs will still be very low as the equivalent of only 5% of staff costs would have been expected to be paid out on average over the term of furlough. Dyor imho
They will semi furlough the team, this will save costs and be a good soft entry back to normality. ****ting off areas will allow this to happen safely. If people can go back to the office then people can sit outside for food and drink. Just be alert. 1.08 short term. 55 is a joke lol
Now environment minister George Eustice has confirmed food and drink venues like pubs and restaurants are likely to be able to reopen outdoor spaces first. It was not made clear whether a similar easing would also apply to Britain’s cafes with outdoor spaces.
He told Sky News on Friday morning: “The hospitality sector and some of those other ticketed venues, in particular cinemas and in particular theatres, restaurants and pubs, will face a challenge getting back in to operation.
“And that is why we won’t be loosening the restrictions on them until at least July and even then it is likely that in the case of pubs and restaurants it will begin with beer gardens and outdoor areas only.”
Bringing the option to work part furlough and part work forward a month is what I call a whiff. If the GVT feel it’s right they may allow
Pubs with outside space open for trade. This will suit the pubs as they at that point will not want to shell out full cost to open for trade limited to beer gardens etc. A great sign for some summer outside boozing. Trust they will be back in flocks. Fingers crossed on news in the coming week/s
My theory is the Euro markets have now priced in the US price already, now the US is open, some may start to pile into uk stocks like mars while they are deflated. Softened the blow on their initial drops. We’ll bounce back up no problems. Don’t need beer money out of this as I will get more beers later with it left in imho
The trial includes those over 65 – or those aged 50 and over with underlying conditions – who live within 40 miles of Southampton.
Those who underwent the previous clinical trial at the hospital have already reported positive results.
One of them told the BBC, “You don’t notice that you take it until you finish. It’s not so bad. I saw myself taking it home. “
