I agree hence my post at 9.48. . Market up 1.7% . ITV up 0.2%. With interest rates apparently peaked in this cycle, buybacks and US media corporate activity I’d regard this as a poor day. It’s a thin market and movements( either way ) should have a disproportionate effect on SP. I’m familiar with derivatives but by no means expert so confused as to why the shorts aren’t being closed/reduced which ultimately would effect underlying market

I’m with you WTom. Not impressed by CEO or BoDs . This really should be higher re SP. I get get the impression something else must be going on that we are not party to but have no evidence .

@LWHL , I agree with you and Tom re CEO & BoDs. I’ll be more than happy to have to eat some humble pie tomorrow at 7 am

On reflection, now my initial euphoria has subsided I see this as a defensive move by the BoD who have now started to realise that the vultures are circling and their carcasses will be the first to be devoured should an unwelcome approach be made. At least they are starting to put up a fight as opposed to letting the slide continue. Hopefully next week the results will support this rise otherwise the company will be broken up . It’s parts are certainly worth more than its current sum

My under is that it depends if they buy back and cancel or buy back and hold . The latter means they can be sold back into the market in the future ( to raise cash) . Sound similar but can make a huge difference in long term outcomes . I haven’t seen ITVs announcement yet does it make clear if which one this is ? Someone may choose to enlighten me or correct if I’m wrong

@pokerC I assume your last post should apply to CEO and BoD too ? More action less moaning or in their case more vision & corporate drive & less drawing 7 figure salaries for abject failure. I’ll sit tight as I think there’s an upside once the fallout from next weeks figures have been digested & settled. Short term I have concern around the divi but my biggest concern medium term & beyond is that there will be no uptick whilst this set of BoDs and CEO remain in charge. They are a millstone

I wouldn’t be surprised if McCall turned out to be Pokerchips mum such is his love & loyalty for her . She’s been a disaster for SP. She’s had plenty of time to turn this around as fa as I’m concerned but I’ll wait till 7 March. She may just pull a (rampant) rabbit out the (tw)hat 🤣🤣🤣

I wouldn’t award her tuppence. If her pay had been linked to SP she’d owe us about £15 million

I think a lot of the frustrations around CEO & BoD is they give the appearance of “fiddling while Rome burns” ( but obvs drawing huge salaries at the same time). I’m not aware of any recent publicly stated strategies issued by them to reverse this now almost daily decline. I guess we’ll find out in just over a week but there is no more hiding after this date . I accept it’s a hard competitive industry but that’s why they are paid big bucks , otherwise I could do an equally bad job for half the money . They need to put up or get out next week. P*ss poor performance doesn’t deserve a large salary . The small investors are growing increasingly restless and I suspect some of the larger ones are too behind closed doors.

@ poker chips . Thanks for telling me I don’t know how the stock market works, those years I spent working in it must have been a dream . I primarily bought it after a significant drop as I saw value and dividend would see through short term , it’s not my usual market tbh and it was an spur of the moment purchase I sort of regret now as the more I look into the company the less impressed I’ve become . I’m not much in the red and will consider averaging out under an ISA come April depending on divi maintenance & other opportunities. Just not impressed with BoD or corporate governance but maybe that’s what BoD want as secretly they hope for a n approach to bail them out. I still think it’s fundamentally an ok company but it could be much better under a more visionary dynamic leadership which it currently lacks imo

Sorry mate but I agree with Wimbledon Tom . The BoD and Dame have done nothing in last 3 months to defend the share price or investors but continue to draw huge remuneration packages. Comms from this company are appalling ( the irony of it being a media and communications stock) . Everyday it’s drifts lower , death by a thousand cuts. No investor can be satisfied with this poor performance, so why some posters continue to defend them can only lead to one conclusion …..they are working for ITV or have an ulterior motive cos being an independent successful company doesn’t appear to be one of them. I took a punt in Nov 23 but I’ll stick to oil and commodities in future where I’ve had far better historical success.

A strong day and ITV still drifting lower . 🙄 I’ll get my next tranche in April sub 50 at this rate . No way 80p anytime soon.

The woman is typical of a class of people in this country who fail but continue to draw large salaries through privileged backgrounds. Still I think I heard on radio that Guardian may be subject to take over from Middle East investors ( how I’d laugh). Where would they leave this failing media group I wonder ? Any opinions . Personally I can’t see MMC allowing it

I agree with Wimbledon Tom. No media output or defence of SP from BoD which is an utter disgrace . But it f there is a buyer (Silchester) and the price keeps falling then someone is selling too. Something else is going on which BoD are keeping from us. I guess we’ll find out in 3 weeks. I jumped on this stock low 60s as I thought it represented value too, lt looks like come 4 April I’ll be selling to reduce my capital gains tax bill from somewhere else !!!

@ Pogo001 As you know nothing of me or my finances it’s a remarkably ignorant and defensive post . My post wasn’t aimed at you but for some reason you made your post about me ?!?! . Strange …SP indicates BoD aren’t doing their job very well. I’ll be more than happy to be proved wrong on 7 March . It’s a competitive world if they can’t produce they should move aside while they still have a reputation. Down .82% today so far. There will be an inflection point at some stage . I hope it’s north and not south as I've now got skin in the game , so I’m entitled to my opinion even it you don’t like it .

People voicing their dissatisfaction is not trolling . They are just unhappy at the 65% drop in SP since CEO came in. It’s NOT an unreasonable stance to take that stance as the aim of this game is to make money from SP or income from divis. Thats why these large company directors earn 7 figure salaries. If they don’t like it , can’t handle or can’t achieve it they can leave with their riches for a quiet life that most could only dream of. May sound harsh but that’s their job .

No inside news just opinion . Makes you wonder how low the share price would be without an institutional buyer in the market. I bought in end of last year as I saw value ( slightly under water like most others) , it’s reassuring institutions think likewise. I am of the opinion ITV BoD are doing a bad job and CEO should resign. With a good BoD we could see considerable returns in SP and divs. I’ll buy more if it falls below 53 but looks unlikely atm without a marketwide downturn.
