hi martin, i’m sure someone like bamps will be able to thoroughly go through the calculations down to the nearest dime. but here’s my back of the *** packet attempt.

for each million ounces we dig up, that’d be an extra $500,000,000 into our coffers. if for instance the mine goes on to produce, as some have suggested 20m ounces, then that becomes an eye watering $10b extra over the life of the mine. now divide that by say 30 years, that’s an extra $333m per annum, less taxes of course. so you can now see just why it’s imperative to get these negotiations done & dusted.

Hi Bamps, yes I agree that costs at Telfer are extremely high, with something like $2300 per oz AISC from their December quarterly report, which does concern me if we were to commit ourselves to taking on Telfer. I just can’t see the point of spending all that money for very little return as it stands. Personally I’d much prefer a more cautious approach, and just keep the processing plant running, until such time we can transition to our own plant at the foot of the mine itself. Unless gold goes parabolic in value in the next two years, closing Telfer would be my choice. There is of course the slight chance of finding other ore at Telfer, but I suspect it’d be akin to wringing out a damp towel for the last few drops. Much better to wring out one pi55 wet at Havieron.

Bamps, where are you getting $1200 AISC from. I know inflation has risen and some other costs have probably gone up further, but I just can’t see our AISC jumping up almost 50% from what it was. Can you please explain your differences of opinion to that of SD’s.

Topslicer, I’m pretty confident that 99.9% of shareholders would prefer to get Havieron up & running, bringing profits into the coffers, rather than go exploring around Ernest Giles, just in the hope we find something worth persuing, that would take us another 10-20 yrs to get us to the stage we are already at with Havieron.

For me, Havieron should be our number one focus, anything else can wait.
