RE: Hope I have done the right thing.28 Jun 2025 09:28
Hey TT, reading about your journey in GGP was like as if I’d penned it myself.
Very very similar story for me too.
When I was in my 30’s, twice I thought I’d be sensible and invest through so called “Independent Financial Advisor’s”. What a complete disaster that turned out to be. So thought to myself, I couldn’t do any worse and decided to put my own set of skills to work (Using my Brain).
I hear people all the time saying things like a few posters have this morning, “I wouldn’t be doing this, or that, or you must be mad”.
It’s from folk like that who in my opinion just aren’t confident in their own abilities. Everything in life is a gamble, how do you think millionaires, billionaires or just the guy who owns his own four bed house with two cars, achieved it ? It’s not given to them, it’s usually because they’ve taken huge risks.
In life you have to take risks, especially if you’re of the ambitious type. Everyone including my own parents said I was cuckoo for gambling with what they considered was a steady income, whereby I could have lost everything when I decided to pack my job in and start my own company. I had 2 yr old twins and a mortgage paying around 15% interest at the time, but believed in myself.
Dav261 Good on yer fella ! I too am from a once mining town in NW England and know firsthand, it’s not easy. Trust in yourself and don’t listen to the negative Nellies who call you an idiot, they’re the one’s who usually have feck all, because they’re too scared to even try.
I wish you all the success in the world, and hope you end up as one of life’s winners.
It worked out pretty well for me, just trust in your instincts, they’re usually right !
