Tbh trying to claim glory for a minor pullback against someone who has made over 100 percent profit in a year trading LLOYDS alone is comical but hey if that keeps you happy the fairplay to you.

Judging on BARC today you would have to guess on a morning rise followed by a sell off tomorrow on LLOYDS

Fair play this has been funny reading todays chat lol!!

It's being controlled by poster's who a year were shouting - "17p" and "unthinkable lows" "wait until the housing market crashes" "there will be huge loan defaults" "no dividends for years" "pra won't lift the ban" "unemployment will soar" "the dow is going to 10000" etc etc blah blah blah they never once admitted they got it wrong but now they want people to listen ha ha ha!!

Now ALL the banks and ftse have dropped today and they focus on LLOYDS "i won't be surprised if there's a short attack" "then a bear raid" one says today lol

Bit of info for poster's here -

Over the last month LLOYDS and RBS are down 2pc while BARC is a little over 2pc up.

Over the last 6 months BARC is up 30pc and RBS is up 32pc with LLOYDS leading at 36pc up for the 6 months.

And then ytd
BARC 22pc
RBS 25pc
LLOYDS 30pc

If you have made money here pat yourself on the back as there are a lot of wannabe experts that have made zero and probably lost vis shorting the banks.

The results of all the banks are great and enough to warrant a growth in shareprice but it probably wont be coming immediately amd in LLOYDS case they need to do at least a 1.2 billion pound buy back to make up for not doing it in q1 and h1 results.

Banks shareprice is now in the hands of the General outlook with covid etc as results are out there

Dc I just licked my finger and stuck it out the window - here's what it told me - we recover a couple of percent tomorrow along with an rbs rise and BARC drops a tad or sits evens.

What ever happens I won't be awake to see it lol!! Knackered after getting up in the middle of the night to see BARC results yesterday amd LLOYDS today

If BARC do further buy backs in the second half of the year their return to shareholders could be in excess of 10 percent - I'm not saying LLOYDS won't I'm saying they need to hurry the ferk up.

Yes but BARC bought and cancelled 1.2 billion pounds worth of shares which equates to over 3pc of payouts on top of the divi.

LLOYDS need to do a buy back of a similar level - it's as simple as that really.

The share price doesn't lie - it's told the board of Directors it didn't like something today and the only thing missing was the buy back.

Have you not seen the supermarket wars where they're fighting to get lorry drivers etc!? Focus on one thing and you miss the bigger picture.

Are you not going to mention the staff shortages right now?

Wait until q3 update - there will have to be a buyback or big special dividend to put LLOYDS on par with BARC and RBS...

Sam lol most people think they are predicting the next big housing market crash with loan defaults - that ship has sailed though as lenders have changed.

I think the rocket days were upper 20s to mid 30s and upper 30s to 50p - from here it should be smoother - im torn between a 50p end of year and a 55p (I think 55p is still very likely)

We know this could move to 50p in a few good sessions.

The bank is doing really well and just needs to share it out - sharing is caring and all that!

Sam let's talk in facts - loan payments are currently above average with regards to repayments ie less defaults than expected.

To say anything else is just guessing.

I know everyone like to think they are John Paulson and all that but sadly that was a one off ship that sailed.

Dc even institutions drip feed the sells - there wouldn't have been buyers lining up today so it would have been tricky for big sells - I get loads of partial fills when selling lloyds in batches equivalent to 40k notional value via spreadbets tbh

Who knows it could rise tomorrow!! Lol

They could easily have managed a buy back similar to barclays of 1.2 billion across the first half of the year...

Read my earlier post - I said the dividend is fine as it matches BARC but sadly the buyback is the killer.

Make all the excuses you want but we all know the capital is there to do a buyback - LLOYDS HAVE EVEN TOLD US THAT!

I say what I see and there is no excuse - with that said they are clearly putting stuff back to allow the new ceo to announce it and look a hero!

There is no defence for LLOYDS today - there should be a buy back NOW - not at the end of the year but now.

They have smashed it like all other banks and outperformed expectations but they're not sharing the glory with shareholder's - they have annoyed some big shareholder's today and they have sold off a load of shares - the board will know who they have upset as well.

It's like they're waving a flag saying look how well we have done currently but shareholder's have to wait to reap the rewards. They're not being cautious but rather showing poor management by not having a permanent ceo in place at a critical time to make this decision.

This dividend will work out to be a 9500 quid payment for me via spreadbets if i hold my positions for the divi date so its a decent amount.

Barclays had a similar sell off on q1 when they annoyed their largest shareholders but the price recovered very fast after so let's see what happens here

Faulky it looks like Inwas right - rise and a big sell off!!

The dividend actually beat analysts expectations today and is on a par with what BARC have paid out percentage wise.

The difference between BARC and LLOYDS on both q1 and h1 is that BARC did a buy back of 700 million in q1 and 500 million in q2 which equates to returning 1.2 billion pound to shareholder's where as LLOYDS did sod all - we now know why LLOYDS hasn't reached pre pandemic levels when BARC has. That is what's hit LLOYDS sp not the dividend.

Having the cfo as interim ceo couldn't have come at a worse time - no way will he be allowed to take all the glory for hand outs to shareholder's and then incomes the new ceo to a falling shareprice and nothing to give to shareholder's.

We need to see if rbs do another share buyback in h1 results tomorrow - if they do we know we have been shafted and will have to wait longer for more capital returns to shareholders of LLOYDS - Ie once the new ceo is in place.

Negative interest rates?

Poor loan payback percentage?

Not me faulky I rode this sucker down to 43p and then back up and looking at that 50p target

Exactly Faulky - BARC at pre covid levels but LLOYDS is way off..... Expect the unexpected.

Banks currently performing well enough to warrant higher than pre covid prices but markets are still to jittery... when the jitter eases though ..... and it will!
