Chab, always a very tricky question. It becomes more interesting when you look at something like NXP004.

We know its based on a £1bn selling oncology drug. So in the situation that the preclinical comes back as positive we should be in a good position.

We then also know it could extend the patent through to 2041, where the current product expires early 2030. So £1bn sales each year for an additional 10 years is pretty tasty.

Lets give a profit margin of 70%, so £700m per year for ten years is £7bn value to the owner.

NFX would go into a negotiation saying 'Look our patent will extend your product by this amount, extending your profit by X amount. How about we sell it to you for say 5% of those predicted sales. Which would be £350m to NFX.'

All hypothesis and subject to many variables. But shows how value can scale up pretty quickly.

Still people selling up for 200 quid gain.

It also looks like they are nailing down the method-of-use.

For example the claims now identify the use of NXP002 as below setting up the use.

"1. A method for the treatment of an allergic disorder, a fibrotic disorder or an inflammatory disorder comprising the step of administering to a patient in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition comprising a crystalline tranilast salt selected from the group consisting of crystalline 1:1 Tranilast N-methylglucamine form I, crystalline 1:1 Tranilast N-methylglucamine form II, crystalline 1:1 Tranilast L-Lysine, crystalline 1:1 Tranilast Diethylamine, crystalline 1:1 Tranilast N-ethylglucamine, crystalline 1:1 Tranilast Potassium Monohydrate, crystalline 1:1 Tranilast Diethanolamine, and crystalline 1:1 Tranilast Ethanolamine and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier."

Which is then followed by the below setting up the method.

"2. A method of claim 1, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is a topical formulation.
3. A method of claim 1, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is an inhalable formulation."

This wasn't as explicit in the previous patent filing.

Looking at the claims section in comparison to before, it very much like they are tightening up the legals to shut out any potential route in for anyone else.

Trying to figure out what the difference is, but NFX have a new patent filing as part of the NXP002 family. It was filed at the beginning of July 21 and published at the end of last week.

Looking over it, I can't find the difference yet to previous. Other than it having an inclusion criteria of IC4 (whatever that means)
