Bill - my point was that Warren Buffet holds shares for the long term and would always profess that. It's only because the environment has now totally (extraordinarily) changed that he's got out of airlines - if it wasn't for that fact and the extraordinary circumstances he'd still be in them.

....what I mean is I'm sat on a fantastic profit - wifey wants to buy a place in Spain (which we could now do) - I believe that there's further to go and I could also retire.
So I believe in the company and want to hold for my retirement purpose - she wants the short term gain of the place in Spain. So I may need to sell to keep wifey happy but that's not what I particularly want (and could contradict an opinion I held before wifey laid down her demands)!

Nobody knows who to trust! I still believe firmly in this company despite those close to me begging me to sell down and protect profits. Not greedy but looking for a reason why I should do that and not regret later

I think you're all being a bit harsh on Mr Beetham.
In my opinion he was highlighting the fact that the stance people take can often be dictated by other circumstances outside their control - ie he had reasons for selling down on GGP the same as Warren Buffet has now sold out of the airlines.

If the SP stays the same then, come 14 May when the new shares are admitted, will there not be a stampede of those looking for a 100% gain (and certainly from those lucky enough to have got them via primary bid).
I'm currently around break-even so a bit nervous to hold prior to 14 May
