Tricky,i've moved on from immigration but good to know you believe they are good for Britain especially if we have a labour shortage-common sense really.
What i am currently concerned about is all this talk of Theresa leaving,we still have a few brexit matters left before it's completely cocked up.
Theresa has played a blinder,such a plausible twist from the referendum result without the help of a predominately leave press.

Just get on with it,then we can discuss brexit again in 2044.

Good to know leavers voted to leave because they wanted choice on what type of immigration.So it's either European,rest of the world or currently both.Are you sure it wasn't because they were sold a dream of no immigration at all?
Until our low paid casual labour market is changed we will need those immigrants to fill our shortfall.

Only difference now,people are forced into private pensions.

What about the the state pension at 29% of average weekly earnings.How about we get everyone to enrol into private schemes and if it goes belly up not our problem.In the meantime we can raid both state and private pension pots and the electorate will be none the wiser.

I'm not convinced john.With total UK QE at £435bn you would think growth per capita of 1.13% for 2017 would be closer to the long term average of 1.87%.
The trade deficit in goods stood at 6.9% of GDP in 2016.We are not making enough products even with this devalued currency and rely heavily on financial services which could easily disappear without confidence in our economy.
Lets hope brexiteers also pull their weight and don't remove their wealth from the UK.

CMC has fallen 60% from 2018 peak,PLUS has fallen 63%.IGG as the biggest well established player is finally catching us up.At 450p it would be at the 50% point.
IGG 9 month revenue down 15% which isn't as bad as CMC guesstimate of 25/35% full year.
As for PLUS i'm trying my best to trade small parcels of my holding and await the next update which should be around early May,hopefully now that we have seen all 3 reporting the market might be able to come up with a sensible value.

Wids,you sound very confident in the UK economy,i'm not.
Since 1948 the UK has had 18yrs when the balance of trade(goods & services) has been positive 12 of which while in the EU.In 2016 the trade deficit to GDP reached 2.6%.
The only thing that keeps this country afloat is selling the family silver and the current cosy position we have providing services mainly to European countries.

Boomer,in fact thats a hard choice.We have 5800 people at great cost pushing pens around at DVLA Swansea making nothing of use.It would be more productive to put a penny on fuel and cheaper for the economy if they did sit on their backstops at home!
I would say it's better to plan for industries like Norway instead of leaving it totally to laissez faire.

Just like Venezuela.Out of probably 50 countries with similar problems we get daily reports of electricity outages,water being taken from polluted rivers,i'm even led to believe a dozen eggs cost $150.You have to ask yourself why it's being reported,prehaps to fill empty minds because until about 6 months ago no one knew where Venezuela was let alone spell it.
