From the last 4 weeks the government should have learnt the housing stock is inadequate and holds back the standard of living.
Over the last decade house sizes have shrunk to 67 sq mtrs.Why not reset the standard back to 1970's 83.3 sq mtrs or better and rule the garden should be at least 3 times the house dimensions.
If we had done this for the last 30yrs based on a yearly new house build of 150,000 we would have used up another 450 sq kms out of a UK area of 244,800 sq kms- a small price to pay for improving living standards.

I would be more concerned with the tourist industry accounting for £106bn of GDP.If we are following Italy by 3 weeks then the earliest end to lockdown would be 24th may so you would think there is enough time to salvage the summer however I'm thinking half the nation would want to catch-up with the back log and the other half more concerned if they have a job.On top of this those over 70 might not want to venture out and the 1.5m vulnerable plus family unlikely too.
The one positive is a staycation will save the UK £22bn as we spend this much more on travel abroad but foreigners do spend £22.9bn here and will the staycation make up for this if the UK ends up the dirtiest nation (covid 19 wise ) .

I have nothing against 2nd home owners staying in their homes, however they must strictly isolate which means they must take with them sufficient food/drink for 14 days before essential trips out.
If someone owns a second home you would have thought they have half a brain at least.
