I'm very much in two minds with Lloyds.
The B of E term funding scheme is pumping £200bn into the banks at rates very close to base rate for 4 yrs which you would think is good news but for a bank to make money it requires borrowers.
I would think it's not the intention of the B of E for only banks to gain but for the economy to gain and borrowers need to see a reduction in their loan repayments.
The current lack of competition leads to most rates pretty much being the same, so I can see more switching on less risky loans, mortgages (say with 10yrs left) and for all banks a deterioration in NIM's.

Forget about the testing, once this country gets going and that's after a slow start, no one in Europe can beat us - I reckon we'll have Italy by Tuesday.

You would think Italy would have left the EU by now but in a funny sort of way Germany needs failed states so I can see the current EU continuing for many years.
As for Britain departure I would say they are fairly neutral.

Richard,the age group you refer to will be out and about immediately this lock down ends and if anything more likely to day trip but they are also more likely to avoid crowded enclosed spaces which isn't a problem on a large open beach.
No problems with ice cream sellers pushing a barrow or a can or two of beer.

In a world of easing lock down that metal box on 4 rubber wheels becomes a relatively safe haven. I can see the advantages of buying click/collect, drive through eateries,banking,cinema etc,etc and will make up for some of the reduced airmiles.

Banks which are more UK focused Lloyds/RBS will be hit harder by impairment than more global banks HSBC/Barclays and all because some lunatic delayed the lock down by a week.

I would think the impairments are coming a bit sooner than that,plus even when business is offered interest free loans for 1 year under business interruption the weekly rate has fallen to £1.3bn,total now stands at £4.1bn 29th April.
