"Many of you post unpleasant ecconomic figures and forcasts which may (or may not) impact on the banks and ultimately their share price"
Today's unemployment figures were brilliant,if the same were published in America the market would jump higher but the only rise here is from a stronger dollar/weaker pound.
What does that tell you of our official statistics?
"I have no sympathy for those who may get ill after having refused to be vaccinated."
What a strange person you are with selective sympathy.
Why wouldn't you have sympathy for all those who may get ill including those that have died from the vaccine?
I understand you don't believe in climate change but i would still have sympathy for you if your house was flooded.
just saying.
Now at 90% of the 7400 cases or to put it another way if we had the same population as India we would have 133,200 daily new cases - time to lock up and throw away the keys?
Plus people have been told after vaccination any symptoms are likely to be slight,so would volunteer for a test or would you know you are having it.
UK exports to Germany down 21.3% Jan-April 2021 in comparison to Jan-April 2020 which include a horrid April 2020.

Use of cash has been falling and fell from 23% of payment method in 2019 to 12.4% in 2020 so shouldn't CHAP's figures be at least 10% higher.
"In the week to 27 May 2021, the aggregate CHAPS-based indicator of credit and debit card purchases was at 95% of its February 2020 average"

Not sure banks/insurers should take all the responsibility.
"Boris Johnson will hold talks with the bosses of Britain's biggest banks and insurers next week as the government seeks assurances about the sector's commitment to financing the post-pandemic recovery."
Considering the top 10% in the UK hold 57% of the net wealth, worth around £6 trillion and Biden isn't a fan of trickle down why can't they chip in 5% over 5 years and if they feel it's unfair then i guess the rest of us could pay 5% but 40% of the population only have 1.4% so wouldn't raise much there.
Currently the wealth is sat on and does nothing for UK ,however you need a Government to spend the money wisely (Severn barrage) and not all on flipping burgers and wine.
Would be patriotic.
Also keep an eye on the job retention scheme which has 3.4 million people (10% of workforce) as at 30th April 2021 on the books.Either a lot of fraud or a lot of people not going to fit in.

PWC have lots of "could's" why the UK growth rate will keep us in the top 10 by 2050 but it's all based on high immigration of younger people which is not what brexiteers wanted.
"The UK’s position is sustained by its projected larger working-age share of the population than in most other advanced economies. However, PwC cautions that this strong growth potential depends on the UK continuing to attract and employ talented people from around the world, even after it leaves the EU."
A third of the growth in the last decade came from .6% annual immigration.
Joe Garner, chief executive of Nationwide, said: “The pandemic has acted as a reset button to a long-term culture of consumer hedonism. Lockdown has had a reversing effect on how we see our money—from a means to spend to a means of protecting ourselves against uncertainty and focussing on what’s important.”
I think he is saying all this created hype on inflation is useless unless you can pitch it at 5-10%,like a furniture sale you may be able save 25% but you can definitely save 100% if you don't buy the detritus in the first place.

Chard,
do you think the Portuguese with the same infection/lower death rate and a vaccination rate 60% of ours will be ranting on about saving 12,000 lives -i think not.
I believe it does save lives, they originally quoted 6,000 but they are picking numbers out of the sky, it's a pity they can't provide names and addresses as they could with the 127,000.
Nil points, all priced into lloyds share price however a country loosing its direction not.
A council after originally investing £4.3 million into a B&Q site then invests a further £700,000 into a Starbucks drive through in the same car park based on a better revenue return than providing affordable housing for its citizens - a complete dereliction of responsibilities.

The constant argument from government is we'll be able to buy cheap oranges, meat and wine to help the poor, but if they were really serious about helping the poor they could bring in rent control and build council houses, things they have a direct control over.
Still it will increase our exports by 7% and imports by 81% so it must be good.
The highlights of the last decade have been a further decline in GDP of 6% compared to Germany, “The UK’s recent past has been marked by stagnant living standards, weak productivity, low investment and high inequality.”
Do we really want to repeat it.

A compromise which would be good for the UK economy and democracy is to offer Scotland the same rights as NI and give them the NI protocol.
If we take the recent results of referendums,55% wish to stay in the UK and 62% wish to stay in the EU,what would be wrong in going half way and this time make the protocol work, offering Scotland single market status on goods.
Is this too difficult?
I have no problem with other people's talking about their achievements, that's good but when you say "My greatest achievement in life is when I see someone is jealous of me" i find that juvenile and unacceptable in a civilised society.
I assume it was a mistake, not even LTI would say such, but with 5 agreeing no wonder society is sick.
As for the achievement of bringing up children the wealthy including the PM usually off load the duty onto nannies,prep/boarding schools and summer camps, you can hardly call that an achievement .
With high levels of vaccination and UV why would they make a meal out of this Indian variant, because the economy isn't reacting as positively as they predicted.
As of March 2021 UK growth is -8.7%,EU growth -5.5%
