Great news and about time!
50:50 if ALM RNS it though (they absolutely should, but...)
Looking outside of our bubble, all the markets are down, BREXIT week isnt it. MM’s will be having a field day all week across the markets and lots of smash and grabs, I see the FTSE100 is down 2.5% now. The VIX is also up 25%, which i watch and a good indicator for overall sentiment.
Looks like a bit of a push on any stops at 35 earlier but suspect quite a few orders at that point too so didn't capitulate (this time!) maybe a short attack, im not convinced yet though. I still think more likely the dreamers selling when they realised they wont get the price they paid plus divi in a few days.
yep, me too.
You really need to research the share NuckyT.
You referred to it as a “punt” a few posts back. A punt in my book, is when you throw pocket change (and thats relative) at a share you know nothing about but hope to ride a spike / gamble, nothing wrong with that but there are some long term holders who know this share in detail and would help you if you were committing to stay in, but coming at it as a “punt” and then asking why the price is down doesn't make sense, why donyou care, obviously its not a straightforward answer. just close your position and move on, you might catch a winner elsewhere
NuckyT, if you could sell on the 13th of Feb, that would be great thanks!
The clowns selling now are the ones I thought would have piled in yesterday. I knew there were loads of ‘get rich quick’ people who had completely misunderstood the dividend and point and piled on thinking they’d get a free 12.5p a share and walk away with a big profit. Oh well, we were quite a bit lower than this (relatively speaking) only a few weeks ago (we were down to 44p). For the holders this is great, im buying, but then im in for FW...
Thanks Scott. Well its a multi-billion dollar market and i can only go by researching what the company puts in public domain and following the CBRS Alliance / OnGo (who’s members alongside FW are the likes of google, cisco, nokia etc, they previously listed them on the website but don't seem to now for some reason) and the wider market, but if ‘we’ hold FW through to full commercialisation and it goes the way they want, everyone one of us will be using the tech on a day to day basis via mobiles and IoT etc - difficult to quantify though but our share of it should be many hundreds of millions imo. BridgeComm also likely to blossom around a similar time I think.
NuckyT,
This share is all about NAV and its current ratio to the Market Cap. By that I mean, even by conservative estimates (post Haweye divi), Federated Wireless not yet commercialised, but seemingly imminent and positive signals but early stages of the rest of the portfolio then the NAV is at around 70-75p a share leaving a good margin for error against current share price and lots of headroom if the tech, particularly that of FedWireless, goes global . I may have been unclear below, i dont think the risk is medium, i think it is low to medium on a medium term investment (medium term, lets say 18months may see this share fully liquidated which it seems is the current plan, hence importance of understanding the NAV of Allied Minds).
Personally I feel Federated Wireless is worth far more and if the company holds out for the tech to roll out through 2020 then that alone could easily be multiples of current overall share price. A bid for it could be made at any point though (like the other assets) and there is a lot of money and big players in the CBRS space working with Federated Wireless.
NuckyT,
NAV = Net Asset Value, fundamental to understand before investing anywhere (up there with Market Cap). I can see why you would regard the share as a "punt"not understanding this (accepting every share has a risk). There are some good websites out there to learn from, start here imo: https://www.investopedia.com/financial-term-dictionary-4769738
The risk vs reward on this share for a medium term investment is more than acceptable and indeed attractive (for me).
Share price held and bounced off the dividend reduction, roughly 2p a share up from yesterday if you held for the dividend. looks good - little bit gutted, I had a pot to one side as I had the impression a load of clowns were going to sell this morning giving a gap, but shouldn't complain! seems a few got in for a swing but they weren't selling many at the low.
Hi Luke, in the uk you are responsible for your own tax affairs and if the dividend payment puts you above your Individual CGT threshold for the year then its for you to declare it at the appropriate rate (unless inside an ISA then tax free).
Normally you can sell the shares when the market opens on the day the share goes ex-dividend if you want. You just need to be on the register pre- market of that day to qualify, however I agree this article is confusing. Personally speaking I’m hanging in for Federated Wireless and will re-invest most of the dividend so haven't looked too much at the details of it. GL
Yep, happy with that!
No mate, just that it looks like he’s been handed a truck full of cash by the Chinese to invest.
shhhh we don't talk about that one, I've just stopped waking up screaming :) - I've had a good profitiable year though with IQAI, riding it from just over 1p and more than recovered those horrible losses and learnt a lot of lessons.
Regarding ALM - the short answers is yes, I think they will liquidate in time - it is the business model and certainly the intent of Crystal Amber as an "activist investor", Bernstein has recently plunged around 12m into buying up a good chunk of the woody/investco shares putting him / them into a very strong position and he wouldn't do that without good reason. the revitalised board under his demand should prove very profitable for all I hope.
Due to the woody and investco clowns the share prices and business direction has been gamed and played with for a long time and indeed that is, in my opinion what has caused the current mcap / price position. Cautiously, I believe the impact of their offloading is coming to an end and we should start to see the Sp recover relatively soon, although there seems to be a chunk of shares un-accounted for at present, I had expected a few more TR1's by now. Q1 2020 should be I hope v.good for the share. Once the special divi from Hawkeye gets announced we are likely to see a good recovery, conservatively 20-30% from current position just on that annoucement imo, if not more once people get onboard and research the company. Hawkeye is a side show but great de-risk at current levels for me though and assuming the price doesn't get too hot I do intend to invest the majority of the dividend back in. The real return and my interest being against Federated Wireless, its on the cusp of becoming massive - 2020 should be huge for 5g and CBRS across the US and UK - check out ongowireless (cbrsalliance.org) to see the massive names involved (google, etc)
Spin Memory is also a great company and revolutionary tech that 2020 should be good for I think.
I know woody was a clown, but I do think his investment here was correct and in-time his investors would have been happy, that said he rode it circa 500p down to 50p! and obviously the woody collapse wasn't about ALM but more about his overall strategy that has caused some great shares to become massively oversold, like ALM (but in balance he was carrying a lot of trash aswell in the portfolio). Also the dick swinging between him and investco hasn't helped.
Im in relatively heavy here, but I am still buying - ive got a few other shares I hope to hit target on in the coming weeks and if so and if ALM is still in the sub 60p region then I'll be buying a few more big chunks.
Good luck and good to see you here!
Hey Boom, welcome aboard mate. Hope you're well!
Bodes well, we just need to get over this churn and some of these big holders show their hand. One thing i am confident about is that CA knows more than me whats going on and he’s buying big...
Decent chunk and also a very positive sign.
Good news, wonder what the next steps are. ..
Another important updated from Federated Wireless on Twitter yesterday: “Starting today, we are giving access to the full 150 MHz of spectrum for general authorized access.” Very good news.
95% confident those big trades are buys, but you needing to be testing the live margins to know that.
