Almost doubled my money in 2 weeks. Had worse days...

The announcement by the uk govt is more significant than many realise. It’s the first step to the govt being able to get itself out of the quarantine hole and more importantly it will give travellers increased confidence to travel.

Just seen a leaked schedule of the Premiership matches commencing in 13 days time. Literally wall to wall coverage include some free to air matches. Expect betting to go through the roof in June and July

Reckon we’ve got 6 weeks of quarantine nonsense to put up so flying will start in earnest 20th July same as Virgin. Mind you, your average business class customer wouldn’t be put off flying by the small risk of a £1,000 fine...

Must admit this made me think twice about buying. However, it says it’s in just one of its divisions and overall effect on the group is negligible so can’t be a systemic problem within the dealerships.

Following discussions Virgin are restarting international flights on 20th July. IMO they would only do this if they had the green light from the govt given the financial position they are in. 6 wasted weeks but at least there’s an end in sight!

Airlines are still in the half price sale but won’t be for long. Markets increasing believing that covid-19 will be done and dusted this year and expect a rapid recovery. Therefore airline stocks are flying all around the world. I have no idea if the markets are right but will enjoy the current positivity.

Nothing new announced by Home Secretary though I note the new term for Air Bridges is International Travel Corridors and there will be a round table discussion of such tomorrow. Share price didn’t even blink!

SP this afternoon will respond to level of negative or positive sentiment in Home Secretary statement but we already know the message. Enforcing quarantine even though it’s illogical to save face but introduce air bridges and other measures to get aviation sector back on its feet. Whichever way the SP goes today the long term is up up up.

Poor Kelly Tolhurst getting an ear bashing over BA. However, it’s all just words. They know they can’t punish BA for utilising the job retention scheme. Teresa May made the best point which is that we need an aviation scheme in place now to allow people to fly with confidence. The old adage “there’s no such thing as bad publicity” applies here as the only thing the govt can do it support the aviation sector further!

The first thing Matt Han@ock said in answer to the FT was that when previously asked he said he was more optimistic of people getting a summer holiday. He ended saying he didn’t want to step on his colleagues shoes or steal their thunder or words to that effect. Change is inevitable and it will send the SP up up and away

The additional TV coverage is undoubtedly going to increase revenue. IMO expecting a steady upward SP back to pre-pandemic level

Surely waiving this for 6 months is the least the govt can do after their cack handed efforts to date!
