I believe in bounces.
I have made a lot out of them in both directions, especially (far and away the most) from UKOG.
But there's not even a hint of that happening at the moment.
With so much negative sentiment the board should be explaining to its' shareholders why it's worth keeping them on and investing in the company.
But they aren't, so the SP continues to fall because there's nothing to counter the negative feeling in the markets.

When I talk about sentiment (+/-) I am not thinking of the other valued (or otherwise) contributors to this board.
I am referring to the actual investors affecting the share value, regardless of how they buy or sell it.

I want things to be positive but I feel they're negative.
That feeling's from what's actually happening, not what I want to see happen.
I am invested, so of course I want things to turn around.

I guess it's more for my personal plans, which I currently don't expect to extend beyond five years with UKOG (hopefully much less).
Trading opportunities have all but dried up so, by default, what I have left in looks like being in for a while now and I'm just hoping things will turn around from the present.
I am not naturally attracted to credit, which this board seems to be, and I worry when I see businesses that are.
I realise the point you're making, that we can't put a real value on the future without more information.
I'd be happy to see information which could change my outlook to a more positive one.
The lack of it is a red flag, backed by by SS's unconvincing way of speaking.
Rightly or wrongly, whenever he says anything I've always had the impression that he's wholly aware of some devastatingly bad news he's trying to keep hidden.

Pony - But UKOG is still developing into a long term major player. It will take a long time and there will be no short term rewards, maybe only a few minor gains.

Actually there have been significant short-term rewards already, but I take your point.
It is my hope that it will develop and there will be long-term rewards as well.
But I'm not encouraged by some of the recent actions of the management.
Specifically the dilution; I see the advantage, but not the need.
The cost outweighed the result (for me).

Yeah, I lost a £30k investment on WTI a few weeks ago.
Not all of it, luckily.
I got 5% back from the ETF and I'd already banked 50% from trading it.
Still.... pain to watch any of my 'hard-earned' go down the tubes.
I'd rather not see something similar here.

I don't see anything wrong with that.
He wasn't the fantasist as some here have been.

Not really a first in investment terms.
While I don't think it will be as bad as the thirties, I think it may be worse than 2008.
Companies will be desperate to get their revenues back.
But there's a vicious circle.
Everyone knows this is going to cost all of us.
Look at the bill the U.K. govt alone is running up.
If I was still working I'd be VERY worried about my job (if I hadn't already lost it).
I'd be shoring up my reserves to last out a period of unemployment by not spending as much.
I won't be alone.
And that's all money that's not going to business.
Many won't make it.
All their employees will be looking for jobs.
Businesses will be able to pick and choose their employees from a glut of unemployed who will beg for a job by reducing their wage demands.
Those workers will have less to spend.
More businesses lose income.
Etc etc etc.

As I said, I don't believe we could go the same way as The Great Depression.
But I'm not ruling it out either.

The aftermath of the virus is not being highlighted.
But it will be expensive.
We are likely to enter a new depression*, if not a recession (longer version of a recession).

Supply and demand is not likely to raise the price of oil overnight.
We will have to go back to an austerity policy again to recover and the cost of living will tighten many pockets.
If people aren't spending, industry won't be producing.

10% of the oil market is in China and that's having the biggest effect on markets today.
They have been buying oil at these prices and building up their reserves.
So we not only have to get rid of the glut President Trump created by "opening the taps on US producers", but also the backlog of cheap priced oil in China (and others) store houses.
Oil producers will continue to produce or risk having wells shut down.
If they're producing for an oversold market they will only get into it by overselling themselves.
So it will be some time before this recovers.

Having said all that.
Once demand starts to increase, I think we will see a rapid reaction exactly the opposite way.
Currency will be valued less and demand will be present where facilities for producing had to be shut.
That will exaggerate the demand and the demand price.
I would think the price then will easily exceed $100/b.
For oil investors who can hold out to see that there may be a fantasy pay day.
But it may be a couple of years away.

Warren Buffet was quoted earlier in the thread to ramp interest in UKOG.
I have an interest in UKOG doing well too.
But I think the management has made some fearful mistakes .

My point is that the much-respected (and I do respect him) person who originally said "When others are fearful, be greedy", also made a similar mistake to UKOG's in acquiring finance by issuing more shares and reducing the value for shareholders.
He's also bought businesses for a good price, that eventually went under.
I don't want to lose my current investment but, if this keeps falling, I think that might be the ultimate outcome here now.

For visibility I've had a holding in Berkshire until recently.
I sold toward the end of last year as I'd begun making better profits elsewhere, by myself, or buying direct.

I've profited from listening to it.
However, on the flip side;

Not all 'dreamers'.
Some have already had our bonanza and are hoping we might see another a way down the line.
If this goes bust tomorrow I, and others, will still walk away in profit.
Just waiting to wring any more out, if possible.
