The long term holders of the IAG rampers club post multiple times on a daily basis as if day trading, I don’t get it. Surely as long term holders it doesn’t matter if the share price rises or falls. All that matters is the share price when you eventually decide to sell. Why bother wasting time posting inane rubbish when you could be doing something much more constructive ?

Thank you Sunsurfer. I would like to apologise to all those who read my recent post as a deramp, this was not my intention. IAG is a solid business and in better shape now than it was a year ago despite the heavy debt burden. Sean Doyle, the new chief executive is a marked improvement on the previous incumbent. Investing last October at sub 100 pence was not a difficult decision and divesting on Friday just prior to the end of the 2020/21 tax year appealed to the socialist element within me. I have said in the past that ramping is as unacceptable as deramping, I therefore find it hypercritical that I am being accused of deramping by the very posters who shamelessly ramp with out considering the consequences of their comments (You know who you are). Nonetheless, I wish you all well and hope the share price rises for you this week. Although not currently invested, I will continue to read this board with interest.

Anapa69, I did not question the value of IAG, I simply said I cannot justify it in my own mind which is why I decided to sell. I am so sorry if this has caused you distress. It is laughable to suggest that my post will have any influence on the movement of the share price. I am astonished and somewhat disappointed that fellow posters choose to recommend your posts.

Gosh Anapa69, such vitriol. I am not suggesting that I am right or that you are wrong. I merely declared my action and the reason for it. Nothing more, only my opinion just like you continuously post yours. I wish you well.

Totally agree with your comments WJFrancis, there is no doubt that the business is significantly more efficient now than it was a year ago. The point is, we as investors are looking for share price growth and dividends to maximise our income. There is little or no hope of an operating profit in 2021 and certainly no dividend. While the cash burn has been significantly reduced through a combination of actions, the debt burden is now enormous. The recent rise in share price has been unprecedented and for investors arguably a good opportunity to bank some profits. I wish you well in your investments.

I spent yesterday morning analysing the final results for 2019 and those of 2020. Just before the pandemic arrived in the UK in January 2020 the market capitalisation of IAG was £13.37b following a successful year of trading that resulted in a £2.613b operating profit after exceptional items. Scroll forward to today and the market cap is currently £10.54b following a crippling year financially that resulted in an operating loss of £7.4b and yet the market cap is only £2.8b (or 57 pence) less than January 2020. In my mind I cannot justify this valuation and can’t help thinking that hope (and pray) value is all that is supporting the share price, along of course with the ludicrously overheated American markets. Consequently I sold my shares yesterday and am quite happy with my gain. Good luck to those still invested.

I totally agree Flightdirector, some realism at last. While I am a shareholder and I want the price to rise, some of the pie in the sky posts are nonsensical.

Hello Linkop, were you posting as WASU in 2020 ? Your messages are similar grammatically. Furthermore WASU’s last post was 29th December 2020 and your first post was 5th January 2021. Just curious, nothing else.

Livepari4, you are as extreme as Whatamess but at the opposite end of the spectrum. Whatamess is alleged to have encouraged investors to sell shares at a low price by pledging that the share price would drop by as much as fifty per cent. You are encouraging investors to buy shares with the pledge of a fifty per cent rise from here having already enjoyed a nigh on fifty per cent rise in the last two weeks. Ramping is equally as annoying as deramping.

A forty five per cent rise in the value of the share price in thirteen trading days ?

I’m struggling to comprehend the current value of this business based on the final results last week.

i) the Company’s volume weighted average ordinary share price rises above 479.4p for a period of one month during the period commencing on 22 March 2013 and ending on 22 March 2021;

Focus less on the definition of VWAP and more on the “ for a period of one month”.

1GW_, many thanks for your post, thanks also for duplicating to ADVFN. While I take your point concerning the reluctance of the board to confirm acquisition interest prior to 22nd March, my take on point (i) of note 23 (Share Capital) is that this condition does not now apply as we are less than one month from 22nd March. So even if the vwoasp were to rise to 480 pence in the short term there is not enough time left for the condition to apply. Am I correct in believing this ? As regards point (ii) of the same note, surely there is again simply not enough time for an offer to be declared unconditional should one be made ?

It would appear that this situation is being carefully managed. If I am correct then we should see some improvement in the share price after next Monday 22nd February in the run up to the end of year trading statement at the end of March. I could be entirely wrong of course !

Totally agree Ejackson. It would appear that the market makers are acting under specific instructions at the moment. Could it be to do with this ?

The shares may be converted into 8,343,935 ordinary shares at the option of the holders of the convertible share in the event that: (i) the Company’s volume weighted average ordinary share price rises above 479.4p for a period of one month during the period commencing on 22 March 2013 and ending on 22 March 2021; (ii) an offer is made for the Company that is declared unconditional (regardless of the share performance of the Company).

Maybe they are waiting for this -

If the shares have not been converted by 22 March 2021 they will automatically convert into non-voting deferred shares. The Company will have the right to buy back such deferred shares for a nominal value at that time.

Despite that flurry of buys above 300 pence on the 11th January, the share price has been manoeuvred back below the 300 pence mark. Very strange.

Many thanks for your post Ejackson. What might influence the share price one way or another in the coming weeks is the 23.97 pence convertible shares issue. The information on this can be found under note 23 of the STU annual report 2020 on page 133.

According to the RNS published yesterday, Frasers has now quietly sold 894,920 shares over recent weeks. That is 1.03 per cent of their holding. Does this mean that their objective is to ultimately divest completely or is it an attempt to suppress the share price with a view to acquiring the company at a lower price ?
