The pump-and-dump cycle here is getting tiresome. Pump it up with a bit of news, then dump warrants, equity or options on mug punters a few days later. It's getting a bit tedious.

Cornwall food is elite. Can't beat a mega Cornish pasty, followed by scones, jam and cream, followed by a Cornish ice cream 99 flake, washed down with Cornish tea. Cornwall deserves way more credit for its food.

UK bank branches really need to become more like bureaux de change. Small window kiosks, staffed by 1-2 workers max. The days of big high-street bank palaces with 50-100 staff are over. More than 90% of all banking activity now happens online or on-app. AI and quantum are only going to accelerate that digital takeover.

As for Cornwall, it's the poorest region in Europe, and one of the poorest places on Earth. There's no profit in running (expensive) bank branches where few make enough money to use it properly.

Good to see CGO placing up, and not placing down, at a +40% premium to the shareprice. More UK firms are now copying the US norm of pricing up (not down) when they dilute for funding. Let's hope this practice is copied by other UK listed companies in the future. It's good news for UK shareholders. Pushes up the shareprice.

Be interesting to see if NWG mention AI in their results tomorrow. Everyone looking nervously for any signs of an AI crash. Crypto, metals, software, wealth managers, real estate, one by one the sector dominoes are toppling due to AI panic. Any negative mention of AI by NWG tomorrow is gonna see UK bank stocks tanking.

AI is costing jobs, AI is replacing established revenue streams for virtually free, while AI infra costs are rocketing. That all points to lower (future) profit margins for banks. The US software index has halved in the past 6 months, due to AI, and we've entered a post-software world. It raises the spectre now of a post-bank world.

There's a rising tide of *AI panic* among Western banks. A recent report said a quarter of a million banking jobs will be lost to agentic AI in Europe by 2030. Another report said Western banks are going to see spiralling costs due to AI infrastructure spending in the next 1-5 years. Yesterday, Altruist's new Hazel AI platform, which may cut tax-planning tasks by -95%, meaning less work for (human) wealth brokers, sent US bank stocks into a tailspin. The AI panic that has already wrecked US and EU software stocks is now spreading to banks.

Rumours today suggest Starmer threatened to call an election if his party ousted him. Say what you like about the guy, but that's a very smart move. Has saved his bacon (for now).

Rayner is currently the clear favourite to be the next UK PM, if Starmer goes, at bookie odds of 9/4 (and shortening). Replacing far-left Starmer with far-far-left Rayner simply doesn't bear thinking about. God help us all.

Scotland, Wales and NI choose to tax their citizens at a (preposterous) 43% rate, half of all their money (!), and that pickpockets £154b of tax. Scotland, Wales and NI choose to tax Amazon at a 3% rate, and that generates £0.2b of tax for their vampire squid of a government. Scotland, Wales and NI choose (willingly) to overtax their own citizens, and undertax foreign corporations. They are naive idiots. But that has nothing to do with Amazon. Nothing, at all. The direct (revenue) comparison remains. Amazon revenue is (rounded) 2 times bigger with 1m people than Sc-Wal-NI with 11m people. It shows just how bad things are in the UK. And it shows how much ChatGPT likes whataboutery "answers" 😉

Amazon revenue (one company) is nearly 2 x bigger than all of Scotland, Wales and NI GDP combined. Around 1m Amazon staff producing double the output of 11m UK citizens. Quite astonishing, when you think about it.
