Perhaps something we should have asked of Conroy .... he might have exploration experience and found oil / zinc and by all accounts has found gold / diamonds but if the company did ever plan to try and dig it out the ground I suspect they'd use a teaspoon.

Again no expert but I have learnt to read and with my limited knowledge I would have thought that you would have to have reached financial close before the actual project was completed. Always helpful to check the facts before posting otherwise you can look like a chump at best or misleading at worse.

Financial closure is defined as a stage when all the conditions of a financing agreement are fulfilled prior to the initial availability of funds.

I'd welcome your view on EDL's CtP options compared to KIBO as someone that holds both. EDL as I understand don't have a BFS for their CtP. Clearly they have a ML and are already producing coal but I dont see that as putting them ahead/. Also no news from EDL on whether they have been invited by TANESCO to develop their plant for export. Do we think this will apply to EDL as well and if so why no announcement today?

Without wishing to be too optimistic there has to be a race to be first and the person with the most credible project must be in a good position esp if they can deliver free of / or with a minimal of state intervention

I agree but the tender was a given and so was the SML and thats what people remember. I am with you on this one and the recent note from PEAK on their SML gives me increased confidence we will finally get ours.

I think the TG / Tanesco have had a rethink and giving MCPP a green light privately may get it off the ground quicker or funded more easily. Note the mention "Furthermore, the Company also remains engaged with TANESCO, regarding potential energy supply opportunities to the domestic market". If they get PPAs for say 200MW for export then a 100MW for internal might be an option

I agree Aerial ... best news we have had for a while ... but I am not sure there is much trust in TG / Tanesco at present and as Sonic likes to remind us we are mired in debt so there is a degree of uncertainty.

Agree Aerial but we in some respects we are not much further on ... we still need a PPA / SML and funding... that said its for a project that now has less reliance on TANESCO / TG once the SML is approved with a bigger market 880MW as opposed to 300MW within the tender. We now have Wimmer potentially alongside SEPCO.

Clearly coal is not dead, MCPP is not dead and LC hasn't been telling porkies but it will take time and the SML / PPAs and funding to shift this along

means that there is an urgent demand for electricity and given that Tanzania has a target to deliver approximately 880MW for the export market for the period 2020-2040

So if we can get enough commitments for power we are not restricted to building 300MW form the get go, also note the domestic market is not off limits
